The posting

Terrain Group is looking for an experienced landscaping or excavation professional who enjoys leading by example? We're looking for a Fencing Foreman to lead our field crews while remaining actively involved in the work. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll supervise daily operations, operate equipment, mentor crew members, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

If you're a strong leader who takes pride in quality workmanship and isn't afraid to get your hands dirty, we'd love to hear from you.

We use AI-assisted tools to help identify and match applicants to our open roles. This may include reviewing resumes and suggesting potential matches. All final hiring decisions are made by humans.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Project Supervisor, you'll lead and coordinate the crew, assign daily tasks, operate heavy equipment, and work alongside your team to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to company standards.

This is a working leadership position—not a supervisory role from the sidelines. You'll be expected to actively contribute in the field while providing guidance, coaching, and support to your crew.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assign tasks and manage workflow to maximize productivity.
  • Execute fencing work according to project plans and specifications.
  • Assist with the installation of wood, chain link, silt, and other fencing systems as required.
  • Operate hand and power tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Perform digging, post setting, measuring, layout, and other skilled labour as required.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with company safety policies.
  • Enforce proper PPE usage and safe work practices.
  • Monitor quality of workmanship and ensure company standards are met.
  • Train, mentor, and support crew members.
  • Communicate project updates, material needs, and site issues to the Project Supervisor.
  • Track daily production, labour hours, and project progress.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites.
  • Troubleshoot field issues and make sound day-to-day operational decisions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years of fencing, construction, landscaping, or related experience.
  • Previous crew leader, foreperson, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience installing wood, chain link, silt, or other fencing systems.
  • Valid driver's license (AR license considered an asset).
  • Strong understanding of safe work practices and equipment operation

What Success Looks Like

  • Safe, productive, and organized job sites.
  • Projects completed on schedule and to quality standards.
  • Crews that are motivated, engaged, and well supported.
  • Strong communication with project management.
  • Consistent hands-on leadership and teamwork.

Benefits

  • Competitive wage of $30.00–$36.00 based on experience
  • Dental & Health insurance coverage
  • Disability & Life insurance
  • RRSP matching program
  • Opportunities for growth and advancement
  • Supportive team environment

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
