At Paragraf we are committed to materially transforming electronics through the development of high-purity graphene and other two-dimensional materials products that will facilitate massive improvements in the performance and significant reduction in the energy requirements and carbon footprints of technologies across all aspects of life.

Paragraf is a global company with separate R&D and manufacturing sites near Cambridge in the UK, an applications development lab in San Diego, USA, with subsidiary offices serving the APAC region in Shanghai, China and Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The Role

This customer focused role supports the APAC Commercial team in the test, development, specification, and scope of the product line through the demonstration of the product’s capabilities and applications with real customer applications as well as comprehensive customer support to facilitate commercial success and delivery to new and existing customers in the Asia region.

Key Responsibilities and tasks

  • Responsible for developing appropriate test and demonstrable experiments of/for Paragraf Sensor products in conjunction with the global team, in particular the UK based Applications team.
  • Be responsible for devising, proving, and writing up Application Notes in collaboration with teams in the UK.
  • Responsible for collecting customer/partner feedback and product requirements and for communication of these requirements internally to ensure they are addressed and managed appropriately.
  • Devise experiments and tests that can solve real customer problems, and/or demonstrate the suitability of the product for their application.
  • Verify specifications, datasheets, and technical documentation to be a real reflection of product performance in a manner that supports commercial activities and is in line with branding and styles etc.
  • Use learnings to assist the commercial and technical teams to continually develop the product roadmap to exploit and extract maximum value from Paragraf’s technologies.
  • Provide technical support and training to global sales representatives where applicable.
  • Act as technical expert advisor for Paragraf’s technologies, assisting the sales team with technical enquiries by providing real data and results from internal test.
  • Work internally with Paragraf’s Applications and Product Management teams to coordinate technology demonstration preparation and custom technology solutions for customers and partners.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with the R&D, Engineering, and commercial teams.
  • Complete other duties commensurate with the role’s level as requested by your team leader or manager.

Requirements

Education and Qualifications

  • Degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as a biology, chemistry, chemical engineering.
  • Understanding of technology transfer processes.
  • Capability to quickly grasp new scientific concepts and technologies with the ability to identify commercial potential.
  • Equally as comfortable in a customer facing role as a laboratory environment.
  • Fluent in English with mother language being Chinese.

Experience

  • Experience of problem solving in a commercial environment, delivering solutions in pressurised and sensitive scenarios.
  • Comfortable operating in a highly flexible working environment, enthusiastic about fluid working practices with a proven ability to handle and progress multiple projects efficiently and effectively.
  • Experience of working within Asian and/or US territories would be an advantage.
  • Experience of protecting the Intellectual Property of patents and trade secrets through industry best-practices of information security.

Skills and knowledge

  • Knowledge, and ideally experience of, working withing the worldwide electronic device industry.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Extremely strong interpersonal skills; outgoing and confident in working closely with people, internally and externally to the business.
  • Exceptional team player with the ability to confidently pitch ideas, products, and concepts, irrespective of audience level, whilst maintaining target message.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and schedule, organise and prioritise your own workload.
  • Ability to reflect and learn from mistakes with a drive to achieve ultimate performance.
  • Knowledge of the concept of two-dimensional materials would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Exposure to materials production techniques, epitaxial or otherwise would be an advantage but not essential.

Preferred specific skills

  • Develop and execute characterization protocols (e.g., cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, impedance) for sensor performance evaluation.
  • Optimize surface preparation and functionalization for improved sensitivity and selectivity.
  • Analyse data to extract key parameters (e.g., redox potentials, charge transfer resistance) and correlate with sensor performance.
  • Support integration of electrochemical principles into GFET-based platforms and hybrid sensor designs.

Communication

  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to contribute and encourage ideas generation to senior management.
  • Effectively communicate technical information, and to report on status of work in a timely manner to senior management.
  • Ability to present information clearly and to report on status of work in a timely manner to senior management.

  • Respect and adherence to confidentiality and critical matters.
  • Responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment by complying with company policies and processes and all relevant regulations including the use of PPE, as appropriate to the level and scope of the role. This includes participation in health and safety training and reporting of any potential hazards or breaches of safety protocols in the appropriate manner.
  • Willing to travel both domestically and abroad; up to 40% of time.
