Job Description:

The Floor Care Specialist is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and well-preserved flooring throughout KCG’s production, warehouse, and facility spaces. This position focuses on the daily and restorative care of polished concrete, epoxy-coated floors, and other industrial hard surfaces while operating specialized floor care equipment. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with commercial or industrial floor care and takes pride in maintaining clean, safe, and highly functional facility spaces.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain polished concrete, epoxy-coated, VCT, sealed tile, and other hard surface flooring throughout the facility.
  • Operate industrial floor care equipment including ride-on and walk-behind scrubbers, sweepers, burnishers, concrete grinders, and mechanical strippers.
  • Perform routine and restorative floor care including scrubbing, stripping, sealing, polishing, buffing, and burnishing.
  • Use diamond pads, densifiers, sealers, guards, and appropriate chemical treatments to maintain and protect concrete surfaces.
  • Clean and maintain epoxy and resinous flooring while addressing scratches, scuffs, wear, and minor surface issues.
  • Perform precise floor striping, aisle markings, safety zones, and other facility line markings.
  • Inspect flooring for cracks, spalling, damaged joints, peeling coatings, surface deterioration, and potential safety hazards.
  • Report significant floor damage, maintenance needs, or safety concerns to Facilities Management.
  • Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance of floor care equipment.
  • Properly handle, store, and use industrial cleaning chemicals according to company procedures.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas during and after maintenance activities.
  • Work safely around forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, sanitation standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of polished concrete, epoxy/resinous flooring, VCT, sealed tile, and other industrial hard surfaces.
  • Hands-on experience operating industrial floor care equipment.
  • Knowledge of floor restoration, stripping, sealing, polishing, buffing, and burnishing.
  • Ability to perform accurate floor striping, aisle markings, and safety zone markings.
  • Ability to safely inspect, operate, and perform basic maintenance on industrial equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining clean, professional facility spaces.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety, PPE, chemical handling, and sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to identify flooring defects, surface damage, and potential safety hazards.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Required Experience:

  • 2–3+ years of dedicated experience in commercial or industrial floor care.
  • Experience working with polished concrete and epoxy/resinous flooring.
  • Experience in large warehouse, manufacturing, production, or distribution environments.
  • Experience operating ride-on scrubbers, sweepers, burnishers, mechanical strippers, or similar industrial equipment.
  • Experience using diamond pads and chemical floor treatments.
  • Experience performing concrete polishing, floor restoration, or hard surface maintenance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Concrete polishing and restoration expertise.
  • Knowledge of industrial floor coatings and resinous flooring systems.
  • Ability to safely operate warehouse material-handling equipment or lifts.
  • Strong understanding of industrial safety practices and OSHA requirements.

Preferred Experience:

  • Certification through the Concrete Polishing Council or a similar industry organization.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 General Industry certification.
  • Valid forklift, scissor lift, or other material-handling equipment certification.
  • Previous experience in a regulated manufacturing, production, warehouse, or industrial environment.
  • Experience in the cannabis, food manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or other regulated production industries.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout an 8–10 hour shift.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Ability to operate and maneuver industrial floor care equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to work safely around forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.
  • Comfortable working in areas with varying temperatures and environmental conditions.
  • Ability to wear required PPE throughout the workday.
