Job Title: Handyman / Carpenter / Installation Lead Location: Melbourne (VIC), Hunter Valley (NSW) or Brisbane (QLD) – Regular Regional Travel Role Type: Full-Time Pay Rate: $45–$50 per hour

Who Are We? At SecureIQ, we connect experienced professionals with growing Australian businesses looking for high-quality talent.

We’re currently partnering with a rapidly growing Australian modular housing company to build out its installation team across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.

About the Role We're looking for experienced Handymen, Carpenters and Trade All-Rounders to lead the on-site installation of prefabricated, expandable and modular homes.

You'll be the lead person on site, working alongside builders, electricians, plumbers and other trades to take each installation from delivery through to completion. This is a hands-on role, so we're looking for someone who can turn their hand to a range of jobs, solve problems independently and confidently coordinate other trades when required.

You don't need to be formally qualified across every trade. What matters most is broad hands-on experience, strong practical ability and a genuine can-do attitude. Experience across carpentry, electrical, plumbing, waterproofing, tiling, roofing or general handyman work will all be valuable.

The work follows the installation sites, so regular travel is a key part of the role. You'll be based around Melbourne, Hunter Valley or Brisbane, with projects taking place across regional and country areas throughout your state. Installations can range from several days to a couple of weeks or more depending on the size and complexity of the home.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead prefabricated and modular home installations from start to finish
  • Coordinate builders, electricians, plumbers and other trades on site
  • Carry out hands-on work across carpentry, waterproofing, tiling, roofing and general handyman tasks as required
  • Troubleshoot and resolve unexpected site issues
  • Guide other trades through the modular and prefab installation process
  • Ensure installations are completed efficiently and to a high standard
  • Keep the wider team updated on site progress and flag issues early
  • Travel to regional and country installation sites as projects come up

This role suits someone who's spent years working across different trades, knows their way around a construction site and is comfortable being the person others look to when something needs to get done.

Requirements

Extensive hands-on experience across construction, trades or general handyman work

15+ years of varied trade experience preferred, although this is a guide rather than a strict requirement

Experience across multiple areas such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, waterproofing, tiling, roofing or general handyman work

Confident leading jobs on site and coordinating other trades

Strong practical problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

Comfortable travelling regularly to regional and country installation sites

Own reliable vehicle for travel to and from sites

Strong reliability, communication and work ethic

Comfortable learning new modular and prefabricated installation methods

Australian working rights or an appropriate working visa

White Card preferred; additional site-specific licence requirements are currently being confirmed

Benefits

Full-time opportunity with flexibility around working patterns

Standard Monday–Friday schedule, with the option to arrange a compressed four-day week with longer days

Travel costs funded on top of your hourly rate

Accommodation covered when working away from your base

Meals covered while away on installation projects

Interstate travel and flights covered where required

Opportunity for ongoing full-time work as the installation team expands

Work across a growing pipeline of modular and prefabricated housing projects

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
