About the Role

Most people spend years trying to get a seat at the table where real investment decisions get made. In this role, you start there. Alpha Theory helps hedge funds and asset managers make better decisions, and our Client Experience team makes sure every client gets real, lasting value from the platform. From day one, you'll work directly with portfolio managers and analysts, learning how professional investors think, debate, and decide, and helping them do it better. With Annie, our proprietary AI answer engine, clients can now do more on their own, which shifts our work toward consultative guidance, benchmarking, best practice sharing, and long-term relationship building. We're looking for an early-career professional who is curious about markets, learns quickly, adapts easily, takes coaching well, and brings the emotional intelligence and professionalism needed to work with sophisticated investment professionals.

Why Highly Motivated, Curious Finance Students and Professionals Love This Role

  • You'll see inside dozens of investment processes, not just one. An analyst at a single fund learns one firm's approach. You'll learn how many different funds research ideas, size positions, and manage risk, and our benchmarking data will show you what separates the strongest performers from the rest.
  • You'll build deep expertise in the discipline that drives returns. Position sizing and portfolio construction are among the most important, and most overlooked, skills in investing. You'll develop a practical understanding of how conviction, risk, and reward translate into portfolio decisions.
  • You'll be at the forefront of AI in finance. You'll help clients adopt Annie, test new capabilities before they launch, and learn how to pair human judgment with AI to produce better work at scale.
  • You'll build a network that matters. Working closely with senior investment professionals means building relationships and credibility with the people who shape careers in this industry.
  • You'll develop skills every great investor and advisor needs. Explaining quantitative ideas simply, reading people well, managing relationships, and turning data into decisions are skills you'll practice every day.
  • You'll grow fast, with real support. With close mentorship and a clear path from supporting client reviews to leading them, you'll take on meaningful responsibility quickly.

If you're curious about markets, love learning, and want a front-row seat to how top investors make decisions (and how AI is changing the game), this is the role for you!

Life at Alpha Theory

This isn't a clock-in, clock-out job. We're a small company competing in an innovative space, and we're looking for people who want to work hard and help build something big. That means being proactive: finding what needs doing and doing it, rather than waiting to be told.

What makes the hard work worth it is the people. Many of us have been here for years, and most would say the team is the biggest reason why. We're a nerdy, curious, adventurous, and empathetic group with a wide range of hobbies, from running, biking, and travel to card/board games, music, and gardening. Most of the office eats lunch together every day. That comes with free lunch on Tuesdays, goofy trivia, Rubik's Cube competitions, and conversations that range from the latest AI models to the best concerts we’ve ever attended to why the final season of Game of Thrones let us all down.

We also believe work should fit around life, not the other way around. When a kid gets sick, a family member needs you, or life just happens, we make it work. People step in, schedules flex, and everyone gets the job done.

Requirements

What You'll Do

Client Relationships and Account Health

  • Own a portfolio of client relationships, acting as their day-to-day point of contact and trusted advisor.
  • Watch engagement and usage data to spot adoption risks early, and act on them before they turn into problems.
  • Keep account records and client notes current so the team always has an accurate picture of each client.
  • Support renewal conversations and flag expansion opportunities to senior team members.

Consultative Guidance and Best Practices

  • Learn each client's investment process and how Alpha Theory and Annie fit into it.
  • Help clients interpret their data and platform outputs, and connect them to better portfolio construction and position sizing decisions.
  • Share benchmarking insights and best practices drawn from across our client base.
  • Help prepare and deliver client reviews, working your way up to leading them.

Annie Adoption and Onboarding

  • Help clients find and adopt new Annie capabilities as the product evolves.
  • Run training sessions and onboarding for new users and clients.
  • Become an expert on new features quickly and explain them clearly to investment professionals.

Support and Product Feedback

  • Help resolve client questions, working with our Client Support Specialist and escalating to Product and Engineering when needed.
  • Collect client feedback and turn it into clear, useful input for the product team.
  • Take part in beta testing and new feature rollouts.

What We're Looking For

  • Entrepreneurial. You're a self-starter who looks for problems to solve and takes ownership without being asked. You want to build something, not just fill a role.
  • Learns fast. You pick up complex concepts and new software quickly, and you enjoy it.
  • Adapts easily. You're comfortable when priorities, tools, and processes change, and you figure things out without a detailed playbook.
  • Interested in investing. You follow markets and understand the basics of how investment decisions get made. Coursework, investment clubs, stock pitch competitions, personal investing, or progress toward the CFA are all good signals.
  • Coachable. You ask for feedback, take it well, and visibly improve.
  • Relationship builder. You listen closely, build trust, and adapt how you communicate to different people.
  • Professional. You're prepared, reliable, and respectful with senior, high-expectation clients.
  • Clear communicator. You can explain quantitative ideas simply, in writing and in conversation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or graduating by May 2027 (Finance, Economics, Math, Accounting, MIS, or related fields preferred)
  • 0–3 years of professional experience; internships count
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated interest in AI, including hands-on experience using AI tools and a desire to pair your own expertise with AI to produce high-quality work at scale
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to meet clients

Nice to Have: client-facing experience of any kind, exposure to SQL or Python, or an internship in asset management, consulting, or financial services.

If this role excites you but you don't check every box, we'd still love to hear from you!

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
