About the role

Side is currently recruiting a Translator (Japanese to English) for our global translation operation. We're looking for candidates with advanced language skills and in-depth cultural knowledge.

You will be responsible for correctly translating video game content and acting as an interpreter to change other associated text into Japanese to English. You will follow product-specific guidelines to ensure the maximum linguist quality and adherence to all relevant conventions. You will be working as part of a team of language specialists to produce high-quality translations, either by translating yourself or reviewing documentation.

■ Key Responsibilities:

  • Japanese→ Practical experience in English translation
  • Experience in translation and localization in the gaming and entertainment sector
  • Experience in translation checking, review, and proofreading
  • Those who excel at expressing writing that makes the most of the game's world and character traits
  • Knowledge and interest in games
  • Experience working on translation and localization workflows as a team
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously

Requirements

  • Someone who values teamwork and communication
  • Someone who enjoys games and entertainment and is interested in localization
  • Those who are particular about writing expression and the quality of details
  • Able to flexibly accept feedback and continuously improve skills.
  • Someone who can take responsibility for quality while keeping delivery deadlines in mind
  • Even if you have no practical experience in translation or localization, we welcome those with sufficient English and Japanese comprehension and a strong desire to localize games.

■ Requirements

  • Native English-level expressive and writing skills.
  • Ability to understand Japanese sentences and naturally express nuances in English.
  • Skills to check the quality of translations and English texts and refine them for more natural and appropriate expressions.
  • Someone who can keep a close eye on schedule and meet deadlines to carry out work.

■ Working condition:

Location: Ootsuka office

Work hour: 11am to 7pm

Hybrid: 3 days remote, 2 days onsite

Contract: 3~6 months (auto renewal)
