The posting

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly organized, visually talented Design Intern or Junior Interior Design & Procurement Assistant to support our hospitality, commercial, and residential interior design projects.

This person will work closely with our design team across both the creative and administrative sides of a project. We are looking for someone who is technically capable, exceptionally organized, comfortable working independently, and has a strong eye for elevated, thoughtful interior design.

3D rendering experience and an efficient, easy-to-use rendering workflow are essential. The ideal candidate can take architectural drawings, inspiration, specifications, and design direction and efficiently translate them into compelling 3D visuals without requiring extensive oversight.

The position will also provide critical support with FF&E sourcing, specifications, procurement tracking, vendor management, and project documentation.

Key Responsibilities

3D Rendering & Design Support

· Create high-quality interior 3D renderings efficiently and accurately.

· Translate design direction, floor plans, elevations, inspiration imagery, and specifications into visual presentations.

· Produce renderings appropriate for residential, hospitality, and commercial environments.

· Make revisions to renderings quickly as designs evolve.

· Read and understand architectural and CAD drawings.

· Assist with space planning and design documentation.

· Sketchup and/or Revit drafting experience is highly desirable.

FF&E Research & Specifications

· Research furniture, fixtures, equipment, lighting, plumbing, hardware, materials, accessories, artwork, and other FF&E based on direction from the lead designer.

· Identify products that meet project aesthetic, dimensions, performance requirements, budget, lead time, and intended use.

· Understand that specifications may differ substantially between residential, hospitality, and commercial applications.

· Research alternate products when selections are unavailable, outside budget, or do not meet project requirements.

· Maintain accurate product information, including dimensions, finishes, pricing, lead times, vendor information, links, and relevant technical specifications.

Specification Books

· Create and maintain comprehensive project specification books.

· Ensure each selection contains all relevant information needed for purchasing, installation, construction coordination, and client approval.

· Maintain accurate and current product details as selections change.

· Organize specifications so information can be easily accessed by designers, architects, contractors, installers, purchasing teams, and other project partners.

· Maintain consistency and accuracy across drawings, specifications, schedules, and procurement documentation.

Procurement Tracking

· Maintain detailed procurement trackers from specification through final delivery and installation.

· Track quotes, approvals, purchase orders, deposits/payments, production status, estimated ship dates, shipping, receiving, damages, backorders, replacements, and installation status.

· Follow up proactively on outstanding quotes, orders, samples, and lead times.

· Flag delays, discrepancies, or missing information before they become project problems.

· Maintain exceptionally accurate project records.

Vendor & Trade Account Management

· Research and establish new vendor, manufacturer, and trade accounts.

· Complete account applications and organize required documentation.

· Maintain vendor contacts, account information, discount structures, ordering requirements, minimums, and trade program information.

· Communicate professionally with vendor representatives regarding pricing, availability, samples, specifications, lead times, and order information.

Required Skills

· Strong 3D interior rendering skills and demonstrated rendering portfolio.

  • Licensed Interior Designer

· Ability to produce renderings efficiently and make revisions without a cumbersome workflow.

· Ability to read and interpret architectural and CAD drawings.

· Strong understanding of interior design, scale, proportion, materials, finishes, and spatial relationships.

· Excellent internet and product research abilities.

· Exceptional attention to detail.

· Strong organizational and documentation skills.

· Comfortable working with spreadsheets, project trackers, shared drives, and cloud-based systems.

· Strong written English and professional vendor communication.

· Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.

· Comfortable receiving design direction and translating it into completed work without requiring constant supervision.

Preferred Skills

· Revit experience.

· SketchUp and/or other professional interior rendering software.

· Previous experience with an interior design or architecture firm.

· FF&E specification and procurement experience.

· Hospitality and/or commercial design experience is particularly valuable.

· Familiarity with the U.S. interior design, furnishings, fixtures, and materials markets.

· Experience working with U.S.-based vendors, manufacturers, and trade accounts.

Ideal Candidate

The right person is both creative and highly organized.

We are looking for someone who understands that excellent interior design depends not only on beautiful ideas, but also on accurate documentation and excellent execution.

You should be comfortable moving between a creative assignment such as producing a beautiful rendering and a highly detailed assignment such as verifying dimensions, updating a specification book, researching an alternate fixture, organizing vendor information, or tracking an order.

Because our client works across hospitality, commercial, and residential environments, we value someone who is curious and adaptable rather than limited to a single project type.

You are proactive, resourceful, detail-oriented, and comfortable asking thoughtful questions when necessary—but your natural instinct is to research, problem-solve, and move the work forward.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
