Role Summary

Greentank Technologies is seeking a highly experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to act as design expert and a technical lead providing guidance, supervision and design oversight to the broader mechanical team.

You will also work as a partner and enabler to the R&D team in region, providing support on mechanical solutions to translate cutting-edge heating technologies from lab validation to high-volume mass production.

The successful candidate needs to be ready to define the future standards of inhalation technology, shaping our product roadmap and elevating the technical capabilities of our engineering team.

Role Responsibilities

  1. System Architecture & Core Design Ownership
  2. Own the complete mechanical system architecture of roadmap approved vaping devices including structural chassis, precision airflow paths, leakage-proof sealing systems, and thermal interface design between heaters and device exteriors
  3. Lead performance optimization of mechanical structures to ensure industry-leading atomization performance, device reliability, and end-user experience
  4. Review and sign off on critical engineering decisions for all product programs
  5. Support and feed into front-end-innovation to develop the next generations of technologies and systems
  6. Technical Authority & Peer Guidance
  7. Lead rigorous peer design reviews for all projects, ensuring all design solutions meet quality, performance, manufacturability, and safety standards
  8. Develop and enforce standardized workflows and best practices for CAD modeling, tolerance stack analysis, GD&T application, and engineering documentation management
  9. Drive continuous technical improvement across the team by sharing knowledge, conducting technical training sessions, and benchmarking industry best practices
  10. Cross-Functional Integration
  11. Collaborate closely with Electrical Engineering (EE) and Firmware teams to ensure mechanical enclosures fully support PCBA layout constraints, battery safety requirements, and sensor placement
  12. Partner with supply chain and manufacturing teams to resolve production challenges, optimize component sourcing, and accelerate time-to-market
  13. Work with quality assurance teams to define mechanical reliability test standards and resolve field failure issues through systematic root cause analysis (RCA)
  14. Heating Technology Enablement
  15. Support heater R&D and technology development teams to enable some advanced technologies from mechanical design, simulation, experiment, prototyping or ideation perspective.
  16. Design for Excellence (DfX) & Mass Production
  17. Drive the seamless transition from prototype to high-volume manufacturing (HVM)
  18. Optimize all designs for automated assembly, micron-level precision, and industry-leading reliability
  19. Ensure compliance with global regulatory standards for materials, manufacturing processes, and product safety

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical product design, with a proven track record of delivering complex hardware projects from concept to mass production in consumer electronics, medical devices, or thermal systems industries
  • Prior experience in vaping device, e-cigarette, or inhalation medical device development
  • Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks or Creo, including advanced surfacing, master modeling, and complex large assembly management
  • Proficiency in thermal and fluid simulation tools (ANSYS Fluent, SolidWorks Flow Simulation, etc.)
  • Extensive experience in tolerance stack analysis and GD&T application for precision components
  • Strong systematic problem-solving skills, with proven ability to resolve complex failures related to thermal expansion, fluid dynamics, and material fatigue
  • Solid knowledge on high-volume injection molding, CNC machining, and designing components for automated assembly lines
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, or other medical device quality management systems
  • Able to conduct business in English and Mandarin
  • Eligible to work in China

  • Proven track record of providing technical guidance and mentorship to senior engineering peers
