The posting

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our personal injury practice on a remote, independent contractor basis. This role is ideal for a candidate based outside the U.S. who has prior experience supporting U.S. personal injury attorneys and is comfortable working overlapping hours with a U.S.-based team.

This position focuses primarily on pre-litigation case management, client communication, medical record coordination, and settlement preparation. Candidates must also have a basic understanding of litigation procedures, including discovery, court filings, depositions, and trial preparation, and be able to assist with related tasks as needed.

The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, organized, and committed to providing excellent client service in a fast-paced legal environment.

Key Responsibilities

Client Interaction

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing case updates, answering general questions, coordinating scheduling, and maintaining professional, supportive communication.

Case Management Support

  • Open, organize, and maintain client files in the case management system (Filevine or similar).
  • Draft correspondence, discovery requests and responses, and basic legal documents under attorney or case manager supervision.
  • Track case deadlines, hearings, depositions, and trial dates, ensuring all events are properly calendared.

Administrative Duties

  • Schedule client meetings, depositions, mediations, and medical appointments.
  • Obtain, organize, and summarize medical records, bills, and accident reports.

Team Support

  • Collaborate with attorneys, case managers, legal assistants, and investigators to support case progression.
  • Assist with intake and records retrieval as needed.

Pay Range

$8.50 - $12.00 U.S. dollars per hour

Requirements

  • Required: Previous experience working for a U.S.-based personal injury law firm.
  • Required: Hands-on pre-litigation personal injury experience, including familiarity with managing cases, communicating with clients, and obtaining medical records and bills.
  • Required: Bilingual in English and Spanish, with strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
  • Some working knowledge of the personal injury litigation process, including discovery, pleadings, court filings, depositions, and trial preparation.
  • Previous experience as a Legal Assistant, Legal Secretary, or in a comparable personal injury case support role.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with legal case management software; Filevine experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical records, medical billing, insurance claims, and settlement demands.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
  • A client-focused approach, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience preparing settlement demand packages and communicating with insurance adjusters.
