Legal Content Author, UWorld Legal / Themis Bar Review

Love the law but not the billable hour? Let's talk.

Remember that moment in law school when a tough concept finally clicked? We make that moment happen for a living, for millions of students.

UWorld is a global leader in learning tools for high-stakes exams, and our legal team is growing fast. We're looking for a sharp, curious lawyer who would rather teach the law than bill for it. You'll create content across UWorld's entire legal portfolio, from Bar exam and MPRE prep to law school study resources and whatever brilliant product we dream up next (possibly with your help).

You won't be a cog in a content machine. You'll be in the room where products are planned, built, launched, and improved, working alongside attorneys, editors, illustrators, and tech pros who get just as excited about a perfect explanation as you do.

What you'll actually do all day

  • Write questions that make students think. Craft rigorous, realistic practice questions with explanations so clear that students stop memorizing rules and start thinking like lawyers.
  • Teach across the legal universe. Create materials for law students, Bar and MPRE candidates, and more as our legal offerings expand.
  • Stay a step ahead. Keep tabs on changes in law, testing formats, and licensing requirements, including the NextGen Bar exam, so our students are never caught off guard.
  • Turn doctrine into diagrams. Team up with our illustrators to create original visuals that make even the Rule Against Perpetuities feel almost friendly.
  • Pitch big ideas. Help shape new products, features, and teaching approaches, and use real student data to make good content great.
  • Make each other better. Review colleagues' work, share feedback that actually helps, and help keep our standards sky-high.

You might be our person if...

  • You're the lawyer everyone asks to "explain it like I'm five." Clients, juries, and confused friends have all walked away from a conversation with you finally understanding the issue.
  • You have strong opinions about the Oxford comma. Clear writing is accurate writing, passive voice makes you twitch, and you can pick up a house style in no time.
  • You don't need a babysitter. You set ambitious goals, hit them, and enjoy the pace of a place where things get done.
  • You're a team player without the cliché. You give feedback that lifts people up, take feedback without flinching, and enjoy working with lawyers, artists, and engineers alike.
  • You nerd out about learning. You wonder why some explanations stick and others don't, and you want your work to make a real difference in someone's career.

The must-haves

  • J.D. from a highly regarded law school
  • At least 2 years of experience as a practicing attorney, legal writer, or legal educator
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of grammar
  • A sharp eye for detail
  • Demonstrated ability to write high-quality exam questions, explanations, or other instructional legal content
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort picking up new tools
  • Willingness to work onsite in Dallas, Texas (great tacos included, at no extra charge)

Bonus points

  • Top 25% of your graduating class
  • A Bar exam score worth bragging about (MBE above 160 preferred)
  • 2+ years in legal education, academic support, or instructional design
  • Journal or law review experience
  • Experience across multiple areas of law or multiple legal exams

What's in it for you

  • Competitive compensation aligned with industry standards
  • An annual performance bonus opportunity
  • Generous PTO and paid holidays (yes, you'll actually get to use them)
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance
  • A 401(k) with a 5% employer match
  • Professional development and real paths for growth
  • A collaborative, mission-driven culture where your ideas make a lasting impact
  • The satisfaction of knowing future lawyers passed because of you

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
