Legal Counsel

Auckland | Hybrid | Full Time | Competitive pay & great perks

Why This Matters

At Entain, you’ll join a global sports betting, gaming and entertainment business behind well-known brands such as Ladbrokes and neds in Australia, and TAB, betcha, Trackside and Sport Nation in New Zealand. We’re an ambitious, customer-focused organisation where our talented people move fast, think boldly and create experiences that excite millions of customers.

As Legal Counsel, you’ll provide practical, commercially focused advice across a broad range of legal and regulatory matters. You’ll work closely with Marketing, Compliance, AML, Safer Betting, Corporate Services and senior leaders to help deliver products, campaigns and partnerships that are commercially effective, legally sound and aligned with customer needs.

This is an opportunity to build your in-house legal career in a fast-moving, highly regulated industry. You’ll gain broad exposure across commercial contracts, marketing, privacy, disputes, consumer law and regulatory matters, while working alongside an experienced and supportive Legal team.

Your advice will have a direct impact on how we operate, how we support our customers and how we help shape some of New Zealand’s best-known sports and entertainment brands.

Your Impact

In this role, you’ll provide practical legal advice across the business, working closely with stakeholders to help deliver compliant, commercially effective products, campaigns and partnerships.

  • Provide practical legal advice across commercial, contract, corporate, consumer, competition, privacy, intellectual property, employment, safer betting and anti-money laundering matters.
  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, including goods and services, advertising, media, sponsorship and licensing agreements.
  • Review marketing campaigns and new product proposals, identifying legal and regulatory risks and recommending practical, commercially focused solutions.
  • Support complaints, disputes and regulatory matters while maintaining terms and conditions, TAB Betting Rules, internal policies and other legal documents.

What You’ll Bring

  • At least one year’s post-admission commercial legal experience in private practice or in-house, with two to four years preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong critical thinking and sound judgement, including risk identification and practical problem-solving.
  • Diligent, organised and collaborative, with strong prioritisation skills in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

These are a bonus, so if you don’t have them all, we’d still like to hear from you.

  • Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, including advertising, media, sponsorship or licensing agreements
  • Marketing and advertising review, including promotional campaigns and consumer-facing content
  • Advising regulated industries, with experience in privacy, compliance or regulatory matters
  • Experience in TMT, intellectual property, employment law, dispute resolution, or in drafting rules, terms and conditions or policies

What You'll Gain

You’ll join a connected, high-energy environment where sport, entertainment, collaboration and momentum are part of the everyday.

  • Benefits: Personal days off, wellbeing initiatives and retailer discounts
  • Flexibility: Hybrid working, with Tuesday and Wednesday as your regular office days
  • Exposure: Work across commercial legal advice, contracts, marketing, regulation, compliance, privacy, disputes and product development
  • Growth: Build your in-house legal capability while developing a practical understanding of the wagering, sports and entertainment industries
  • People: Join a supportive Legal team that values collaboration, clear communication, sound judgement and a friendly approach
  • Perks: Free breakfast and snacks, sports on TVs, a pool table and a modern office designed for connection and collaboration

It’s a place to build your skills, connect with great people, and grow your potential through the energy, impact, and opportunity that make Entain different.

There’s nothing like it.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once per CV, from $25. Every application goes out with its own CV, written for that posting.
