The posting

Key Responsibilities

• Perform customized facials, including cleansing, steam, manual extractions (no lancets or needles), masks, and facial massage.

• Perform superficial chemical peels and exfoliation limited to the non-living outer layer of the skin, following practice protocols and Board of Barbering and Cosmetology rules.

• Perform dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, and hydradermabrasion (e.g., HydraFacial) treatments.

• Operate approved non-invasive devices such as LED light therapy, high-frequency, microcurrent, and ultrasonic skin scrubbers.

• Provide waxing, sugaring, threading, and tweezing, plus brow and lash services (tinting, lifts, and extensions).

Support for injectable and medical treatments

• Prepare treatment rooms and patients for injectable treatments (cleansing, positioning, and pre-treatment photos). Injections are performed only by the practice's licensed medical providers.

• Provide pre- and post-treatment skincare that complements injectables and other medical treatments performed by licensed providers.

• Recognize and immediately report adverse reactions or patient concerns to the supervising provider.

Client care and consultation

• Conduct skin analyses and consultations, including Fitzpatrick skin typing; build individualized treatment and home-care plans.

• Refer clients to the nurse injector or Medical Director for any service outside esthetician scope (injectables, lasers, microneedling, or prescription products).

• Obtain signed consent forms and provide pre- and post-care instructions; perform follow-up visits.

Documentation and compliance

• Maintain accurate EMR charting, including products used, device settings, and skin response.

• Take standardized before-and-after photos.

• Follow Board of Barbering and Cosmetology health and safety rules for disinfecting tools and single-use items, as well as OSHA, infection control, and HIPAA requirements.

Practice growth

• Recommend professional skincare and retail products, and support memberships, events, and promotions.

• Stay current on new products and techniques through continuing education.

Requirements

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Active California esthetician or cosmetology license in good standing, issued by the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology — see licensing requirements below.

• Minimum [2] years of hands-on esthetics experience, preferably in a medical spa, dermatology, or plastic surgery setting, with a portfolio of before-and-after photos available on request.

• Proven experience with superficial chemical peels, dermaplaning, and hydradermabrasion.

• Completion of advanced skin treatment and device training (certificates required).

• Current CPR/BLS certification, or willingness to obtain it within [30] days of hire.

• Working knowledge of skin anatomy, contraindications, and skin conditions that need a medical referral.

• Strong communication and consultation skills; comfortable with EMR charting and photo documentation.

• Able to stand for extended periods and work some evenings and weekends.

California Licensure and Legal Requirements

In California, esthetics is regulated by the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology (BBC). Injections of neuromodulators, dermal fillers, biostimulators, vitamins, and IV therapy are the practice of medicine. An esthetician license does not allow any injection, even inside a physician-owned medical spa and under a physician's direct supervision (Bus. & Prof. Code §§ 2052, 7320). This role does not include injecting. The table below lists the license required for this role and the licenses required for anyone who injects at our practice.

Requirements for this esthetician role

• Active, current California esthetician (or cosmetology) license, verifiable on the DCA license lookup and displayed at your workstation.

• To qualify for the license: be at least 17 years old, have completed the 10th grade or its equivalent, complete 600 hours of training at a BBC-approved school, and pass the state written exam. Out-of-state applicants may qualify by reciprocity if licensed for 3 of the last 5 years without discipline.

• Renew the license every 2 years. California does not require continuing education for estheticians, but we expect ongoing advanced training.

• Work only within esthetician scope, which is limited to the non-living outer layer of the skin. Estheticians may not inject anything, use lasers or IPL, perform microneedling or medium or deep peels, remove moles or skin tags, or apply prescription products, even under physician supervision.

• Follow BBC health and safety rules (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 16) and the practice's written protocols.

• Carry or be covered by professional liability insurance, as provided by Skin Genius Beauty Lounge or held individually.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years as a medical esthetician with an established client following in the Inland Empire.

• Experience with medical-grade skincare lines and building retail regimens.

• Experience assisting providers with injectable, laser, and microneedling patients.

• Advanced credentials such as CIDESCO or NCEA certification.

• CPR/BLS certification.

• Bilingual English/Spanish.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
