The posting
The Licensed Trading Officer is one of the company's accredited representatives before the Iraq Securities Commission and the Iraq Stock Exchange: the person formally authorised to receive and execute client orders and to answer for the trading department's conduct. The role runs the daily trading desk for the local market and the order flow routed to the international broker, and makes sure every order is handled in line with the regulations, the exchange rules and the company's procedures.
Order handling and execution
• Receive, validate and execute client buy and sell orders on the Iraq Stock Exchange through the exchange trading system, within each client's approved limits and account status.
• Monitor orders routed electronically to the international broker, follow up on rejected or partially filled orders, and handle exceptions with the broker's operations team.
• Perform pre-trade checks: client identity and account status, available cash or securities, trading restrictions, and any flags raised by compliance or AML.
• Keep an accurate, time-stamped record of every order, amendment, cancellation and execution, as required by the regulations and the company's record-keeping procedures.
Settlement, reconciliation and market operations
• Coordinate daily settlement with the Iraqi Depository Centre and the settlement bank, and reconcile executed trades against client accounts and the company's records.
• Track corporate actions, trading suspensions, price limits and exchange announcements, and make sure clients' positions and the platform reflect them.
• Prepare the trading department's daily and periodic reports for management, and the trading data requested by the exchange or the Commission.
• Act as the trading department's operational contact with the Iraq Stock Exchange and the Iraqi Depository Centre.
Conduct, compliance and client service
• Apply the company's compliance, AML/CFT and risk procedures on the desk, and refer unusual orders or client behaviour to the compliance officer and the AML reporting officer without delay.
• Handle clients' execution-related questions and complaints professionally and within the company's service standards.
• Contribute to building the trading department: procedures, controls, platform testing with the technology vendor, and training of future team members.
• Maintain the accreditation, continuing education and good-standing requirements set by the Commission and the exchange.
Requirements
• Has passed the broker-representative examinations approved by the Iraq Securities Commission and the Iraq Stock Exchange, or holds a current accreditation as a licensed trading representative/
• At least two years of hands-on experience on the trading desk of a brokerage company licensed on the Iraq Stock Exchange, with practical knowledge of the exchange trading system and the Iraqi Depository Centre's settlement procedures.
• Clean record: no conviction for a felony or a misdemeanour involving dishonesty, and no disciplinary sanction from a regulator. The Commission vets each accredited representative before commencement, and the appointment is conditional on that vetting.
• Fluent Arabic and working English, high numerical accuracy, and the composure to work under market-hours pressure.
