The posting

As part of a major cruise ship newbuilding programme, we are looking for an experienced Machinery & Piping Superintendent to support our client’s project teams during the construction of next-generation cruise vessels.

You will be responsible for supervising machinery and piping installation activities on site, ensuring compliance with approved engineering documentation, technical specifications and shipbuilding quality standards.

Working closely with the shipyard, subcontractors, equipment manufacturers and project engineering teams, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality, coordination and timely completion of onboard installations.

Your responsibilities

Machinery & Piping Supervision

  • Supervise machinery and piping installation works during cruise ship construction.
  • Monitor the installation of marine machinery, piping networks, pumps, valves and associated equipment.
  • Verify compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications, class requirements and project standards.
  • Coordinate technical interfaces between machinery, piping, HVAC, electrical and other onboard systems.
  • Identify installation issues and coordinate technical resolutions with engineering and production teams.

Quality, Testing & Commissioning

  • Monitor installation quality and ensure compliance with shipbuilding standards and project requirements.
  • Coordinate inspections, pressure tests, flushing, functional tests and other relevant piping and machinery checks.
  • Follow up on non-conformities, technical queries and outstanding work until closure.
  • Support commissioning activities and ensure installations are ready for testing and delivery milestones.

Shipyard Coordination & Project Delivery

  • Coordinate daily activities with shipyard production teams, subcontractors and equipment suppliers.
  • Monitor work progress against the construction schedule and flag delays or technical constraints.
  • Participate in technical coordination meetings and provide regular progress reports.
  • Ensure effective coordination between installation teams and engineering disciplines.
  • Contribute to the resolution of technical and interface issues throughout the construction process

Requirements

  • Degree or technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Shipbuilding or a related field.
  • Proven experience in Machinery & Piping supervision on cruise ship newbuilding projects.
  • Experience working directly on site within a major shipyard, overseeing installation works and coordinating subcontractors.
  • Strong understanding of the specific requirements of large, complex passenger vessels, including multidisciplinary system integration.
  • Experience with cruise ship construction, ideally on large-scale international newbuilding programmes, is strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Solid knowledge of marine machinery installations, piping systems and associated equipment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), isometric drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience with piping inspections, pressure testing, flushing and machinery installation checks.
  • Familiarity with ship classification requirements, applicable marine regulations and shipyard quality procedures.
  • Ability to manage technical queries, non-conformities and installation interfaces on site.

Personal Skills

  • Strong coordination and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on approach and ability to work closely with shipyard production teams.
  • Organised, proactive and comfortable managing several technical activities simultaneously.
  • Good communication skills and professional proficiency in English.

Benefits

  • 6-month assignment, with the possibility of a 6-month extension.
  • Position based in Saint-Nazaire.
  • Starting January 2027

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
