Ready to Lead, Not Just Litigate?
You’ve spent years becoming a strong attorney. Now you may be ready for the next step
— leading other attorneys, shaping case strategy, developing a legal team, and
having a meaningful voice in how a growing law firm operates.
Miami Family Law Group is looking for an experienced Managing Attorney who wants
to do more than manage a caseload.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Lead and mentor a team of attorneys and help them become stronger
advocates.
- Be the person attorneys turn to for strategy, guidance, and leadership.
- Have a meaningful voice in how our legal department operates and grows.
- Help establish standards and best practices across the firm.
- Collaborate directly with firm leadership on legal operations and strategy.
- Develop attorneys rather than simply supervising their work.
- Work with a team that values accountability, communication, collaboration, and
exceptional client service.
- Use your years of legal experience to make an impact beyond your own
individual caseload.
Position Overview
Miami Family Law Group is a growing, progressive law firm seeking an experienced
Managing Attorney to lead our legal team and oversee the quality, strategy, and
progression of our legal matters.
This role is ideal for an experienced attorney who is not only a strong litigator and legal
strategist, but also an effective leader, mentor, coach, and manager of attorneys.
As Managing Attorney, you will oversee attorneys and legal staff, monitor caseloads and
case progression, review legal strategy, coach team members, and help ensure that our
clients receive exceptional legal representation and service.
You must be comfortable handling all stages of litigation, from the inception of a matter
through resolution and closing, while also helping other attorneys successfully manage
their own cases.
This is more than a job for the right person — it is an opportunity to play a key
leadership role in the continued growth of our firm and legal team.
Leadership & Attorney Management
A major responsibility of this position is leading and developing our attorneys.
You will:
- Directly manage and supervise a team of attorneys.
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, guidance, feedback, and professional
development.
- Serve as a resource for attorneys facing complex case strategy, litigation, client-
management, hearing, mediation, or trial issues.
- Help attorneys build confidence, judgment, accountability, and independence.
- Monitor attorney performance, productivity, case management, communication,
and quality of work.
- Conduct regular attorney check-ins and case review meetings.
- Identify areas where attorneys need additional training, support, or accountability.
- Provide constructive feedback and establish clear expectations when
improvement is needed.
- Help develop firm-wide legal standards and best practices.
- Foster a collaborative environment where attorneys work together and learn from
one another.
- Partner with firm leadership on the continued development of the legal
department.
Case Oversight & Legal Strategy
The Managing Attorney will help ensure that cases are moving strategically and
efficiently toward resolution.
Responsibilities include:
- Attend weekly Pod and case-management meetings to oversee caseloads,
workloads, deadlines, and case progression.
- Review complex legal matters and provide strategic guidance.
- Ensure meaningful case activity and progression are occurring.
- Identify cases that have stalled and help attorneys determine the appropriate
next steps.
- Monitor how long cases have been active and what phase each matter is
currently in, including:
o Pleadings
o Discovery
o Motion practice
o Mediation
o Trial preparation
- Review case files for strategic progression and upcoming deadlines.
- Review mediation checklists and determine case readiness for mediation.
- Thoroughly review matters for trial readiness.
- Ensure attorneys are adequately preparing for hearings, depositions, mediation,
and trial.
- Assist with strategy, research, drafting, or review of significant legal documents
when appropriate.
Maintain High Standards of Legal Work
Our Managing Attorney helps establish the standard for legal excellence throughout the
firm.
You will:
- Review attorney work product for quality, accuracy, strategy, and professionalism.
- Help attorneys develop thoughtful legal strategies based on the client's goals,
facts, evidence, and procedural posture.
- Ensure attorneys appropriately prepare for court appearances and major case
events.
- Monitor attorney-client communication and help ensure clients receive timely and
meaningful updates.
- Assist attorneys with challenging or escalated client situations.
- Help ensure consistency in legal work and client service across the firm.
- Hold attorneys accountable for moving matters forward and meeting firm
expectations.
Legal Representation
While leadership and attorney management are significant components of this role, the
Managing Attorney must also be an experienced practitioner who is capable of stepping
into complex matters when needed.
Experience may include:
- Divorce
- Paternity
- Timesharing and custody
- Child support
- Post-judgment modifications and enforcement
- Family law litigation
- Probate administration
- Guardianship
- Estate planning
- Mediation
- Evidentiary hearings
- Depositions
- Trial preparation and courtroom representation
The Managing Attorney may maintain a caseload while balancing attorney supervision,
case oversight, strategy, and leadership responsibilities.
The position includes a weekly billable target of approximately 17–18 hours of billable
activity.
This Role May Be Right for You If...
You are an experienced attorney who enjoys practicing law but has discovered that
some of your most rewarding moments come from helping other attorneys succeed.
You may already be the attorney other attorneys come to when they have a difficult
hearing, challenging client, complicated case, or strategic question.
You enjoy looking at the bigger picture.
You notice when a case is not progressing and can quickly identify what needs to
happen next.
You enjoy teaching attorneys why a strategy works rather than simply telling them what
to do.
You can give constructive feedback, have difficult conversations when necessary, and
hold people accountable while still building a positive and supportive team.
You remain confident and composed under pressure and understand that our clients
often come to us during some of the most stressful periods of their lives.
You can combine compassion with strength, strategy, and sound judgment.
Most importantly, you want an opportunity where your experience and leadership will
have a visible impact on the success of the attorneys around you and the firm as a
whole.
More Than Managing Cases
Our Managing Attorney is not simply the attorney with the largest caseload or the most
years of experience.
This person is a leader of our legal team.
You will help attorneys think strategically, prepare effectively, communicate confidently
with clients, and move their cases toward resolution.
You will have the opportunity to help shape the attorneys you manage and create the
type of legal team you would want to practice alongside.

managers, and leadership team work collaboratively to move cases forward and provide
excellent service to our clients.

step.
