The posting

ZeroAvia is leading the transition to zero-emission aviation through the development of hydrogen-electric propulsion systems for civil and defence aerospace applications. As the world's only Design Organization Approved business focused exclusively on hydrogen-electric aviation, we have achieved significant flight test and regulatory milestones with the UK CAA and FAA and secured more than 3,000 pre-orders from airlines, OEMs and defence customers globally. Joining ZeroAvia means being part of a team pioneering the future of aviation and delivering lasting impact for the planet and its people.

As ZeroAvia advances towards certification and commercial deployment, the Mechanical Design Engineer will play a critical role in developing the mechanical systems and structures that enable our hydrogen-electric propulsion technologies. Working within a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment, you will be responsible for creating robust, manufacturable and certifiable design solutions, from concept through to production. You will apply advanced mechanical design principles, CAD expertise and engineering judgement to solve complex technical challenges while supporting certification activities, manufacturing integration and programme delivery. This is a unique opportunity to contribute directly to cutting-edge aerospace innovation and help shape the next generation of zero-emission aircraft.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Create, develop, and maintain complex 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, engineering documentation, and associated design data for mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Apply sound mechanical engineering principles, including GD&T, material selection, manufacturing processes, and supporting analysis, to deliver robust, manufacturable, and compliant design solutions.
  • Manage design data and configuration within the PLM system, ensuring all engineering outputs meet applicable quality, certification, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and external stakeholders to resolve technical challenges, support production activities, and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Participate in design reviews, reviewing engineering deliverables, and working towards engineering signatory approval authority.

Key Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in mechanical design, preferably within the aerospace or other highly regulated industries.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD design, with Siemens NX preferred, including the creation of detailed components, assemblies, and engineering drawings with knowledge of GD&T.
  • Knowledge of engineering materials, manufacturing processes, and configuration management within a Teamcenter PLM environment.
  • Experience working within a multi-functional structured engineering environment, with the ability to manage and maintain accurate design data.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of aerospace products, systems, or certification environments.
  • Knowledge of hydrogen, fuel cell, or propulsion system technologies.
  • Experience of composite design and manufacturing methods.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
