The posting

Lumax Energy is seeking a Technical Engineer – Solar Structures & Trackers to provide technical engineering support across the project lifecycle, from client requirements and tender development through design, manufacturing and project execution.

The role will work closely with clients, engineering, drafting, manufacturing and project teams. The successful candidate must be able to interpret structural and mechanical designs, validate technical documentation and BOQs, identify technical risks and develop practical engineering solutions that can be manufactured and implemented on site.

This is a hands-on engineering position suited to an engineer who understands both design and real-world manufacturing and construction environments.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Structural Design

  • Provide technical support for fixed-tilt solar structures and single-axis tracking systems, including review and optimisation of structural and mechanical designs.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and calculations, and identify technical risks, design constraints and discrepancies.
  • Evaluate structural and mechanical components and support value-engineering initiatives to improve performance, manufacturability and cost.

BOQ & Document Validation

  • Review and verify Bills of Quantities (BOQs) against engineering drawings, specifications and project requirements.
  • Validate engineering drawings, technical schedules, specifications and revisions to ensure documentation is accurate, complete and consistent.
  • Identify discrepancies between technical documents and ensure engineering requirements are correctly reflected before submission or release.

Manufacturing & Fabrication

  • Review engineering designs from a manufacturing and fabrication perspective, identifying material, production and manufacturability constraints.
  • Provide technical clarification on drawings and engineering requirements and assist in resolving manufacturing-related technical issues.
  • Support product development and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and solar mounting-system designs.

Client & Project Support

  • Participate in technical discussions with clients, consultants, EPC contractors and project stakeholders and respond to technical queries.
  • Translate client requirements into practical engineering deliverables while clearly communicating technical requirements, limitations and design considerations.
  • Provide engineering support during manufacturing, construction and installation, including site investigations and technical inspections where required.

Product Development & Value Engineering

  • Support the development and optimisation of Lumax's mounting structures, fixed-tilt systems and single-axis tracking solutions.
  • Evaluate alternative materials, components and structural configurations to improve product performance, manufacturability and installation efficiency.
  • Support testing, validation and continuous improvement of existing and new products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3–5 years' relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience with structural and/or mechanical design.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience reviewing BOQs and engineering documentation.
  • Experience within a manufacturing, fabrication, construction or project engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and/or structural engineering principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Utility-scale solar PV projects experience is advantageous
  • Autodesk Inventor experience is advantageous

Key Competencies

The successful candidate should be:

  • Detail-oriented, particularly when reviewing engineering documentation and BOQs.
  • Comfortable reviewing and challenging technical information.
  • Practical and solutions-oriented.
  • Able to understand the relationship between design, manufacturing and installation.
  • Confident communicating with clients and technical stakeholders.
  • Able to identify technical issues before they become project problems.
  • Comfortable taking ownership of technical deliverables.
  • Able to work effectively in a project-driven environment.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role will mean delivering accurate, practical and commercially conscious engineering solutions; ensuring BOQs, drawings and technical documentation are correctly aligned; identifying technical issues early; providing reliable technical support to clients and project teams; and ensuring designs can be effectively manufactured and installed.

This is an opportunity to work across the engineering lifecycle of utility-scale solar mounting structures and tracking systems, from technical requirements and structural design through manufacturing and project execution.

Benefits

  • Market related salary
  • Strong exposure to Solar industry

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
