The posting
Summit Healthcare is hiring on behalf of a client. A growing healthcare services organization is seeking an experienced Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and operational oversight for a large network of skilled nursing facilities throughout the New York metropolitan area.
The organization is not a nursing home operator. Instead, it partners with skilled nursing facilities and senior care communities by delivering specialized physiatry, pain management, and related clinical services directly on-site. Its physicians and advanced practice providers work alongside facility teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care focused on pain management, rehabilitation, mobility, functional improvement, and overall quality of life. The organization maintains an established presence across Queens, Brooklyn, and select areas of Long Island and continues to expand its clinical partnerships.
The Medical Director will serve as the senior clinical leader overseeing medical services across approximately 30–40 skilled nursing facility locations. This individual will direct, mentor, and supervise a team of approximately 10 on-site providers, ensuring consistent clinical quality, regulatory and payer compliance, and operational excellence throughout the network.
This leadership role combines strategic oversight with hands-on provider management and facility onboarding. While leadership and administrative responsibilities are primarily conducted remotely, on-site presence is required across Queens, Brooklyn, and Long Island for provider onboarding, new facility service launches, relationship management, and occasional clinical coverage when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Quality Assurance
- Provide overall medical leadership and clinical direction for physiatry and pain management services across 30–40 skilled nursing facility locations.
- Oversee clinical standards, clinical protocols, provider performance, and quality metrics across the facility network.

- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support the development and expansion of new clinical programs and service lines.
Provider Recruitment, Onboarding & Team Development
- Oversee and manage a distributed team of approximately 10 on-site physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs).

Facility Implementation & Operations
- Assist with the clinical implementation, workflow design, and launch of services at newly partnered skilled nursing facilities.
- Establish appropriate provider coverage schedules, clinical workflows, protocols, and service expectations when initiating new locations.
