The posting

We are looking for a Software Engineer within Axon Product Development to help us build new functionality and add improvements to our SaaS platform. If you have an eye for writing code and are interested in agile methodologies, we’d like to meet you!

Key About Your Role

As a Software Engineer within a Scrum team, you use high-quality code to solve complex puzzles. You collaborate with business analysts and test engineers to create new functionality for our customers and add internal improvements to our software. Together with the other members of your Scrum team, you take full responsibility for a vital part of the software.

You strive to deliver solid solutions by optimising their performance, usability, testability and maintainability and are proud of the products that you create. You analyse complex problems by actively cooperating with colleagues from various teams and find the best solution by combining different insights.

We also embrace AI-assisted software engineering as part of our development lifecycle. Our engineers use tools such as Claude, ChatGPT and Codex to support activities across the SDLC. From exploring requirements and solution options, to writing and refactoring code, creating tests, debugging, documentation and code review. AI is a development aid, not a substitute for engineering judgement: you are expected to understand the solutions you deliver, validate AI-generated output and remain accountable for its correctness, security, performance and maintainability.

As part of a large community of fellow software engineers, you are always looking for opportunities to improve your engineering skills, experiment with better ways of working and continuously improve our software and code base.

Key About Your Team

The Axon Product Development department consists of more than 120 colleagues, organised across 9 functional clusters (like Claims, Contracts, Financials, Request) and 16 Scrum teams. Together, they extend Axon’s functionality and continuously improve the product, ensuring it evolves in line with the changing needs of insurance companies and continues to deliver lasting value to our customers and their policyholders.

Requirements

  • You are passionate about software engineering. You love to put your strong analytical skills to the test whilst working closely together with your team.
  • You have experience with large technical ecosystems using Java, IntelliJ, Git, Gradle, Angular and Docker;
  • You have experience working with SQL and databases (DB2, PostgreSQL);
  • You are used to creating and performing unit, system and integration tests as part of your development work;
  • You understand the Agile way of working, tools and techniques;
  • You have an eye for writing code with attention to performance, scalability, maintainability and testability;

Using AI

  • You have used AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, GitHub Copilot or Cursor, in your work or your own projects. You can explain how you have used them to explore solutions, understand unfamiliar code, develop or improve code and tests, troubleshoot issues, or support code reviews.
  • You understand how AI-assisted development fits into the broader software development lifecycle. You can guide coding assistants with clear requirements and context, including through reusable instructions, skills or agents where relevant.
  • You critically review, test and debug AI-generated code. You can identify incorrect assumptions, security vulnerabilities and maintainability issues, and you remain accountable for the logic, architecture, quality and security of what you deliver.
  • Experience with CI/CD practices and integrating AI-assisted development into those workflows is a plus.

*A Certificate of Conduct (VOG) and reference check are part of the application process.

*Each employee within Keylane must follow training on information security and irrespective to the role basic information security responsibilities apply

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
