The posting

Role Purpose

The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining and enhancing secure, resilient enterprise network infrastructure. The role ensures reliable connectivity across Data Centres, cloud environments, campus networks and other technology platforms, supporting business requirements and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Network Design and Architecture: Design and implement enterprise network solutions that meet security, resilience and operational requirements. Develop and maintain network standards, reference architectures, diagrams and technical documentation.
  • Network Infrastructure: Configure, maintain and support routing, switching and connectivity services across Data Centre, campus, remote-access, network security and hybrid-cloud environments.
  • Network Security and Segmentation: Implement network segmentation, access controls and secure connectivity solutions in collaboration with cybersecurity and infrastructure teams.
  • Network Operations: Maintain network stability, performance, capacity and availability. Manage security events, incidents, changes, upgrades and technology refreshes in accordance with established procedures. Participate in on-call support and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Automation and Infrastructure as Code: Contribute to the development and implementation of network automation and Infrastructure as Code initiatives to streamline provisioning, configuration and operational processes.
  • Projects and Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance on network requirements for projects, platform changes and new technology implementations. Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity and application teams to support successful delivery.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Work collaboratively with engineers and cross-functional teams, contribute to technical discussions, share knowledge and support the development of effective network solutions across the organisation.

Requirements

Skills and Experience

  • Strong Experience in enterprise network engineering specifically Cisco technologies
  • Strong knowledge of routing, switching, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and network security concepts.
  • Experience with firewalls, load balancing, VPNs and secure remote access.
  • Understanding of Data Centre and cloud networking architectures.
  • Experience with network monitoring, event correlation and performance analysis.
  • Knowledge of high availability, resilience and disaster recovery principles.
  • Familiarity with network automation, scripting and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Understanding of identity-aware access, segmentation and secure-by-design practices.
  • Relevant professional networking certifications would be advantageous.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience: Typically, six to ten years of relevant experience, or demonstrable expertise appropriate to the role.
  • Experience coordinating the work of others or contributing to technical projects is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of platform reliability, security, resilience and operational excellence.
  • Experience participating in incident, problem, change and lifecycle management.
  • Ability to document technical solutions and communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders
  • Commitment to continuous learning, professional development and relevant industry accreditations.
  • A collaborative, improvement focused and automation-oriented approach to engineering.
