About the Opportunity / A Day in the Life

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join a specialty clinical team in Tucson, Arizona. This position offers the opportunity to apply and expand clinical expertise in gastroenterology, hepatology, liver disease, and specialty medicine, while also gaining exposure to clinical research and emerging therapies.

Ideal candidates bring at least five (5) years of experience as an NP or PA in hepatology, gastroenterology, or specialty care and are comfortable evaluating patients, developing diagnoses and treatment plans, and managing patients with an appropriate level of independence.

Candidates whose primary specialty experience is in surgical care or endocrinology should bring at least six (6) years of experience as an NP or PA, including substantial experience seeing and managing patients independently. Physician Assistants should have experience evaluating and diagnosing patients under the guidance and oversight of a supervising physician as appropriate.

New NP or PA graduates may be considered on a limited basis if they bring at least 10 years of prior RN experience in gastroenterology, endocrinology, hepatology, or surgical care. This pathway is intended for new APP graduates who already possess significant specialty clinical experience from their nursing careers.

Your day-to-day work will include evaluating patients, conducting consultations and pretreatment reviews, establishing diagnoses, developing treatment plans, providing follow-up care, and educating patients and families. You will collaborate closely with physicians on complex cases while taking ownership of assigned patients throughout their care journey.

You will also have exposure to clinical research and emerging therapies. This may include caring for research patients, identifying appropriate therapeutic opportunities, and educating eligible patients about available clinical trials.

Monday through Thursday is primarily focused on clinical care, while Friday is structured as a half-day dedicated to charting and administrative work, providing protected time to complete documentation and stay current on clinical responsibilities.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Build and expand specialized expertise in GI, hepatology, and liver disease
  • Manage specialty patients with a meaningful level of clinical autonomy
  • Gain exposure to clinical research and emerging treatment options
  • Develop additional procedural skills, including FibroScan
  • Work closely with physicians and an experienced multidisciplinary clinical team
  • Benefit from a Friday half-day dedicated to charting and administrative work
  • Opportunity for highly experienced specialty RNs transitioning into their first NP or PA role

What We’re Looking For

  • Experienced NP or PA with a strong background in specialty medicine and complex patient care
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate patients, establish diagnoses, and contribute to treatment planning
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to manage assigned patients with an appropriate degree of independence
  • Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organized and attentive to clinical documentation and follow-through
  • Comfortable collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary clinical teams
  • Motivated to take ownership of patient care and continue developing specialty expertise

Experience Requirements

Candidates should meet one of the following experience pathways:

  • Hepatology, Gastroenterology, or Specialty Care: Ideal candidates bring at least five (5) years of experience as an NP or PA in hepatology, GI, or another applicable specialty-care environment.
  • Surgical or Endocrinology Background: Candidates should bring at least six (6) years of experience as an NP or PA, including experience seeing patients independently, evaluating clinical presentations, and establishing diagnoses and treatment plans within their scope of practice. Physician Assistants should have experience doing so under the guidance of a supervising physician as applicable.
  • New NP/PA Graduates: May be considered if they bring at least 10 years of prior RN experience in gastroenterology, endocrinology, hepatology, or surgical care.

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
