The posting

Department: Technical Services Reports to: Head, Technical Services

Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Support:
  2. Provide technical support to vessels managed by company.
  3. Attend to vessels as required.
  4. Planned Maintenance Monitoring:
  5. Oversee vessels' planned maintenance schedules.
  6. Implement improvements as necessary.
  7. Regulatory Compliance:
  8. Ensure Masters and Chief Engineers are updated on statutory instruments and amendments issued by regulatory bodies.
  9. Technical Input:
  10. Provide input for service engagements and spare part procurement for vessels.
  11. Role Substitution:
  12. Act as 1st deputy DPA/CSO during the absence of the main holder.
  13. Cover duties of Head, Technical Services during their absence.
  14. Additional Delegated Duties:
  15. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Head, Technical Services (HTS).

Requirements

Requirements on Technical Expertise:

Deep Electrical Knowledge: A strong understanding of electrical principles, AC/DC systems, power distribution, and control systems. This includes knowledge of:

  • Power generation: Diesel generators, gas turbines, and renewable energy sources.
  • Power distribution: Transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and cabling.
  • Electrical equipment: Motors, pumps, lighting, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Safety systems: Emergency shutdown systems, fire detection, and alarm systems.
  • Experience with Offshore Electrical Systems: Familiarity with the unique challenges of electrical systems in offshore environments.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve electrical faults, including the use of diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Experience in maintaining and repairing electrical equipment, including preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.

Management and Communication:

Supervisory Skills: Ability to lead and manage a team of electricians and technicians.

  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with crew members, management, and other stakeholders.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Ability to maintain accurate records of electrical work, inspections, and maintenance activities.
  • Safety Awareness: A strong commitment to safety and a thorough understanding of relevant safety procedures and regulations.

Relevant Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field is preferred, along with relevant certifications.

  • Offshore Experience: Prior experience working on offshore platforms, preferably in an electrical capacity.
