About the Role

We're hiring a Platform Engineer to help build the future of software management on Windows. Workbrew supports Windows today through WSL; this role leads new, native development to give Windows users an experience on par with what we offer on macOS.

This role is for an exceptional systems engineer and software developer who loves working close to the operating system. You'll help design and build the core technology that powers Workbrew's Windows offerings, including native applications, device management integrations, security controls, software distribution systems, and developer tooling.

The ideal candidate combines deep Windows expertise with strong systems programming fundamentals and a security-first mindset. They are equally comfortable building native applications and services in C#/.NET, designing backend services in Go, and debugging complex interactions between applications, operating systems, and infrastructure.

This is a hands-on engineering role with significant technical influence. You'll work closely with product, engineering, and security teams to define the future of Workbrew's platform.

In this role, you will

  • Build and maintain native applications and platform services targeting Windows
  • Develop secure software distribution, installation, and update mechanisms.
  • Work deeply with Windows APIs, system services, device management technologies, and operating system internals.
  • Design systems that scale reliably to hundreds of thousands of managed devices.
  • Investigate and resolve complex platform, performance, and reliability issues.
  • Help shape Workbrew's security architecture across endpoints, applications, infrastructure, and software supply chains.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to make thoughtful technical and architectural decisions.
  • Contribute to existing high-performance backend systems and APIs in Go.
  • Contribute to engineering standards, code reviews, testing practices, and operational excellence.
  • Use AI tooling to move faster without sacrificing quality or security.

Success in this role looks like

  • Reliable, performant platform services that scale with customer growth.
  • Secure-by-default product architecture and development practices.
  • High-quality native Windows experiences that feel deeply integrated with the platform.
  • Improved reliability, observability, and operational efficiency across Workbrew systems.
  • Delivery of major platform capabilities that become foundational to future product development.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.

  • Strong understanding of operating systems, networking, distributed systems, and application security.
  • Experience designing and maintaining secure software delivery pipelines.
  • Experience debugging complex cross-system issues spanning applications, infrastructure, and operating systems.
  • Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, endpoint security, and software supply chain security.
  • Excellent written communication skills and comfort working in a highly asynchronous environment.
  • Strong technical judgment and the ability to balance pragmatism with long-term maintainability.
  • Active use of AI-assisted development tools, with the judgment to verify their output in security-sensitive, low-level code.

Nice to haves (you do not need any of these)

  • Experience writing low-level Windows components in C++ or Rust.
  • Deep knowledge of Windows internals, Windows services, the registry, ETW, code signing, package management (MSI, MSIX, WinGet), or Microsoft Intune and Windows MDM.
  • Experience with Windows security technologies such as App Control for Business (WDAC), AppLocker, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, or Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Experience building developer tools, platform products, or endpoint management software.
  • Contributions to open source projects.
  • Experience in security-focused or highly regulated environments.
  • Security certifications such as OSCP, CISSP, CCSP, or equivalent practical expertise.
  • Strong opinions on the future of endpoint security, software distribution, and AI-enabled systems.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
