The posting

Build the software operators use to control and monitor multiple unmanned systems.

Minerva Defence is one of the fastest-growing defence technology companies in Europe. We create the software, hardware and networking that make unmanned systems effective on the modern battlefield, all ideated, designed and manufactured end-to-end in the UK, and in active use today. We are deliberately low-profile: a team of around 70, small in headcount and outsized in effect. We look for people who are not just talented but genuinely committed to the work, the team, and the purpose behind it.

You will be responsible for taking feature requests from frontline users and designing, implementing, testing and shipping them. We are looking for engineers who are product focussed and are comfortable taking full ownership of features across the whole stack; whether that is backend, frontend, UI/UX or deployment. You will work directly on software for controlling or monitoring unmanned systems products used by large numbers of frontline operators on a daily basis. You will be responsible for implementing features to improve their operational output, whether direct user requests or ideas of your own. We expect our product engineers to take complete ownership of the features they write, across implementation, field testing and deployment. As a result, we are looking for candidates who are comfortable across the full stack, and who are willing to jump into learning about new areas they are less familiar with if that’s what is needed to get the job done.

Responsibilities

  • Take a lead on developing new features based on customer feedback, in our unmanned systems control software team.
  • Work across the full stack, whether that’s backend (largely Python), frontend (React, Electron), or design.
  • Do whatever it takes to ensure our users get reliable, robust feature updates which improve their operational output in a timely fashion.

Requirements

Minimum:

  • Proven experience shipping user-facing software in a product-driven environment
  • A solid grounding in backend and frontend development
  • An eye for UI/UX
  • Ability to take ownership of features from idea through to deployment
  • Willingness to expand your skillset into new areas, if that is what is required.
  • Willingness to be involved in field testing of the features you own

Preferred:

  • Experience with Python, Typescript, React and Electron, or related languages
  • Experience in a customer facing product development role

Benefits

We offer competitive compensation including;

  • Share options vesting over three years
  • Bupa private medical insurance
  • 6% employer pension contribution
  • 25 days leave plus bank holidays
  • Enhanced mat/pat leave
  • Enterprise level AI tooling
  • Relocation support/home office budget

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once per CV, from $25. Every application goes out with its own CV, written for that posting.
