The posting

We have a new opening for a Psychiatric Technician or LPN/LVN at the Naval Branch Health Clinic in Millington, TN.

Job Specific Duties:

The type of work may include, but is not limited to, the following:

• Conduct or assist in treatment and rehabilitation of patients. Perform initial basic assessment procedures including standardized psychological testing, clinical interviewing, mental status examinations, substance abuse evaluations, and psychological and nursing assessment. • Identify mental health and nursing diagnoses, and provide patient education. • Observe, monitor, record, and report patient's progress. • Conduct or assist in conducting group and individual counseling, therapeutic community, and other related milieu activities. • Institute precautionary measures to prevent patient injury or suicide. • Assist patients with nutritional, hygiene, and comfort measures. • Obtain and record vital signs. • Coordinate with other agencies regarding specified care, treatment, prevention, rehabilitation, and administrative functions. Contact military and community agencies to obtain collateral information. • Explain and interpret mental health services to patients or others. • Assist in, or arrange patient referral to public, private, and military community agencies. • Prepare and maintain records and reports pertaining to specialty services. • Assist with care of individuals experiencing acute and post-traumatic stress reactions. • Prepare and maintain treatment records.

**The employee will provide service in the Psychiatric Clinic at the Naval Branch Health Clinic Memphis - Millington, TN 38054. This service is a Psychological Health initiative under the Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury (PH and TBI) program. The program seeks to address gaps in the care available for the prevalent injuries among combatants from the global war on terrorism. Through adoption of risk-based staffing models and a uniform, best practice standard of care across DOD, the program seeks to ensure easy, rapid access to PH care for all beneficiaries and to ensure that transition across networks of care recognizes the unique care coordination and case management requirements for PH and TBI patients.

Work Schedule:

Normal schedule is Monday - Friday, 8.5 hours between 7:00am and 3:30pm, including a half-hour lunch break.

No Weekends, No Call, No Holidays!

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications for LVN/LPN:

* Education: Certificate. Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university, or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

* Experience: One year of practical or vocational nurse experience after graduation. Must have one year of Psych experience.

* License: Current, full, active and unrestricted license as a practical or vocational nurse.

* Life Support Certification: Possess a current AHA or ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification.

* Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.

Minimum Qualifications for Psychiatric Technician:

* Education: Certificate. Graduation from an accredited Psychiatric Technician Program; or completion of an equivalent education and experience that meets the requirement of the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians or completion of education and experience as a behavioral science specialist/technician in the United States military and proof of having completed an Armed Forces course involving psychiatric technician training or civilian course from an accredited school in the care of behavioral health patients.

* Experience: One year of recent post-grad clinical experience as a Psychiatric Technician and a LVN/LPN. Must have the Psych experience.

* License:Current, full, active and unrestricted license as a practical or vocational nurse from any state

* Life Support Certification: Possess a current AHA or ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification.

* Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
