QA Automation Engineer

Position Type: Full-Time, Remote Working Hours: U.S. Business Hours

About the Role

At Pavago, one of our clients is hiring a QA Automation Engineer to build, maintain, and scale automated testing systems for a fast-growing, product-focused technology company.

This is an automation-first engineering role focused on Playwright and TypeScript—not manual QA. You’ll work closely with frontend and backend engineers to strengthen regression coverage, eliminate flaky tests, improve framework reliability, and ensure high-quality releases across the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Test Automation

  • Build, maintain, and expand end-to-end automation using Playwright and TypeScript.
  • Develop scalable automation frameworks for critical product workflows.
  • Improve regression coverage across frontend and backend systems.
  • Write reliable, reusable, and maintainable automated tests.

Framework Reliability

  • Identify and eliminate flaky tests.
  • Improve test execution speed and framework stability.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to DOM interactions, asynchronous behavior, and network requests.
  • Maintain reliable automation environments across releases.

CI/CD & Quality

  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Support reliable deployments through continuous testing.
  • Maintain test environments and test data strategies.
  • Improve release confidence through automated quality validation.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with frontend and backend engineers throughout feature development.
  • Participate in release planning and testing strategy discussions.
  • Leverage AI tools to improve exploratory testing and automation workflows.
  • Continuously improve automation coverage, reliability, and engineering best practices.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript.
  • Hands-on experience with Playwright (Cypress experience is acceptable with willingness to transition).
  • Proven experience building and maintaining end-to-end automation frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of DOM interactions, asynchronous behavior, network requests, and debugging flaky tests.
  • Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building automation frameworks from scratch.
  • Knowledge of test data management strategies.
  • Experience testing B2B SaaS or multi-tenant applications.
  • Familiarity with role-based access and permissions testing.
  • Experience with AI-assisted testing tools and workflows.
  • Startup or product-led environment experience.

What Success Looks Like

  • Stable and reliable automation frameworks.
  • Reduced flaky tests and production defects.
  • Increased automated regression coverage.
  • Faster, more reliable CI/CD testing.
  • Improved test execution speed and release quality.

What Happens After You Apply

Right after you apply, you’ll receive an email invitation from Spark Hire to record your Intro Video. It’s a short, self-recorded video that completes your application and allows hiring managers to get to know you before the interview process begins.

Rather than repeating your background during multiple screening calls, you’ll tell your story once, allowing future interviews to focus on meaningful conversations.

Don’t overthink it—you can record as many takes as you’d like before submitting. Your invitation will come from Spark Hire, so please check both your inbox and spam folder.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?
