The posting

Zaber is looking for a Quality Control Technologist to join our Incoming Quality Control (IQC) team. In this role, you will be the first line of defense, ensuring that all received components meet our specifications. Your primary focus will be on inspecting incoming components, verifying them against technical drawings, and resolving quality issues.

The IQC team collaborates with external vendors, product managers, engineers and our internal machine shop to resolve technical issues. We drive continuous improvement in engineering drawings, manufacturing processes, part manufacturability, and overall workflow.

Zaber makes cutting-edge, precision robotics for industry-leading customers at industry-leading lead times. Our mission is to lower the barriers to precision motion control and automation, enabling our customers to advance science and technology. Through your role, you will advance this goal by ensuring our components remain of high quality, allowing the rest of Operations to build and sell products that perform as expected.

As a QC Technologist, you will:

  • Partner with product managers, the Sustaining Engineering team, and the internal machine shop to resolve recurring quality issues, improve engineering drawings, enhance part manufacturability, and optimize processes in the QC department.
  • Design and develop custom inspection fixtures, jigs, and gauges using SolidWorks to streamline inspection processes and improve measurement accuracy.
  • Act as one of our technical points of contact for external vendors regarding non-conforming parts and in-process troubleshooting. Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), request Corrective and Preventive Actions, and work collaboratively with suppliers to resolve root causes of defects.
  • Perform detailed visual, dimensional, and functional inspections with precision instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM, etc.)

You’re the ideal QC Technologist if you have:

  • A Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or proven hands-on experience in related fields.
  • Hands-on experience in a Quality Control, Quality Assurance, or machine shop environment
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, capabilities, and common defects for metal and plastic parts, and a high level of competence in reading engineering drawings
  • An aptitude for building relationships and collaborating with others to solve complex problems
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. You notice when something is not right and are enthusiastic about finding the root cause and making improvements.

The following experience would be considered an asset:

  • Understanding of machine shop workflows, routing, and operations and/or manufacturing cost estimating or quoting.
  • Familiarity with complex GD&T standards
  • Programming or operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
  • Managing vendor relations and onboarding
  • Evaluating or troubleshooting electromechanical system components, such as motors, PCBs, lead screws, and belt drives

Recruiter Role Details:

  • The starting wage for the role is $35-$49 depending on experience
  • Type: Full-time, Permanent, Onsite
  • Selected Benefits: PHSP (health, dental & vision), Stock Options & Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Flexible Schedule, Paid Time Off, Casual Dress, Commuter Benefits, EAP
  • Team: IQC

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
