About CMI: Central Moloney has been a trailblazer in manufacturing distribution transformers and transformer components since 1949. Our ISO 9001-certified legacy is built on delivering top-notch products, on-time reliability, and pushing the boundaries of excellence. Join us in powering a future resonating with Central Moloney's strength.

About the Role: The West territory covers Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Hawaii, Colorado, and Arizona, consistent with the assigned utility sales map. Customers include investor-owned utilities, electric cooperatives, municipal utilities, distributors, and public power organizations. Specific account assignments and shared account responsibilities are established by sales leadership.

The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) owns utility customer relationships and commercial growth for CMI’s distribution transformers and components in the West region. The role develops new accounts, expands existing business, leads bids and negotiations, and builds relationships across procurement, engineering, standards, operations, and executive teams.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President Sales, U.S., the RSM works with sales representatives, Inside Sales, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, and the components team to deliver competitive offers, protect margin, and maintain reliable customer commitments. The RSM leads territory sales activity and holds external representatives accountable for agreed plans and results.

  • Develop and execute an annual territory plan with priority accounts, growth opportunities, competitive positioning, customer qualification needs, and actions to meet bookings and margin objectives.
  • Build account plans for key utilities, including relationship maps, estimated demand, supplier share, contract renewal dates, specification requirements, and a practical plan to increase CMI’s participation.
  • Maintain relationships with procurement, standards engineers, distribution operations, planning, and leadership. Understand replenishment, grid modernization, storm preparedness, and other utility purchasing needs.
  • Acquire new customers and strengthen existing accounts through regular visits, technical discussions, business reviews, and coordinated follow-up. Pursue approved vendor status and long-term supply agreements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant technical sales experience.
  • At least five years of experience in technical sales, business development, or account management for power systems, electrical distribution equipment, or related products.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex accounts, developing opportunities, negotiating agreements, and meeting sales objectives.
  • Understanding of utility procurement, specifications, vendor qualification, and distribution transformer applications; ability to engage technical and commercial decision-makers.
  • Strong pricing and margin judgment, clear communication, structured account planning, and forecast discipline. Proficiency in Excel, presentation tools, and sales systems.
  • Ability to work independently from a home office and travel regularly throughout the assigned territory and to CMI facilities.
  • Experience managing independent sales representatives, blanket supply agreements, utility product approvals, and multi-location accounts.
  • Experience coordinating with manufacturing, proposal, quality, and customer service teams.
  • Travel Required

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
