The posting

A secondary English teacher is responsible for teaching English language and literature, developing students’ communication skills, and preparing them for exams while fostering critical thinking and a love of learning.

Core Teaching Responsibilities

Secondary English teachers teach students aged 11–16 (Key Stages 3 and 4), covering grammar, writing, reading comprehension, and literature analysis. They plan and deliver lessons aligned with the national curriculum, ensuring each class has clear objectives and a balance of instruction, demonstration, and practice. Teachers also adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students, encouraging interactive and engaging learning experiences

Assessment and Student Support

Teachers create, assign, and grade homework, tests, and projects, monitoring student progress throughout the academic year. They prepare students for standardized exams, such as GCSEs, and provide extra support to help students reach their potential. Periodic progress reports and parent-teacher meetings are part of their duties to communicate student performance and development

Classroom Management and Environment

Maintaining a safe, orderly, and productive classroom is essential. Teachers supervise students, enforce discipline, and foster a positive learning environment. They also ensure classrooms are well-organized and equipped with necessary resources for lectures, presentations, and activities
