By combining innovative financing with deep industry expertise, we solve complex energy challenges for large organizations. Our performance-based, no-capex contracts ensure we only get paid when we deliver results—enabling organizations to share in cost savings without any upfront investment.

Position Overview

The Senior Business Development Director is responsible for driving Calibrant Energy’s commercial growth by originating, structuring, and closing large-scale distributed energy solutions, including solar PV, battery energy storage, linear generators, and microgrids, for enterprise and Fortune 500 industrial and data center clients.

This role requires a seasoned sales leader with a proven track record in managing complex, consultative sales cycles and delivering high-value renewable energy transactions. The Senior Business Development Director will own relationships with executive stakeholders, navigate complex procurement processes, and work closely with internal teams to deliver tailored solutions that meet customer goals.

The ideal candidate is a strategic, customer-focused dealmaker who thrives in high-stakes environments and consistently delivers results, while contributing insights that help refine Calibrant’s broader go-to-market strategy.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Business Development & Market Growth

  • Originate and lead large-scale sales opportunities with Fortune 500 industrial and data center clients.
  • Identify and target strategic accounts, positioning Calibrant’s solar, battery storage, linear generators, and microgrid solutions as enablers of sustainability, reliability, capacity, and cost optimization.
  • Build trusted, consultative relationships with executive-level stakeholders.
  • Stay ahead of energy transition trends, regulatory shifts, and customers’ needs to proactively identify opportunities.

Complex Sales & Transaction Leadership

  • Manage the full sales cycle, from initial engagement through closing, with a focus on structuring and securing long-term agreements.
  • Lead negotiations for PPAs, ESAs, and other complex contracts, ensuring terms meet client expectations while delivering company growth targets.
  • Partner with engineering, project finance, and operations teams to build customized, bankable solutions.
  • Maintain a disciplined and transparent pipeline, ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with solutions engineering, marketing, operations, and finance teams to align proposals with client needs.
  • Support the preparation of investment committee materials and executive-level presentations for high-profile transactions.
  • Provide market feedback to leadership to inform product strategy, pricing, and market positioning.

Performance & Growth Targets

  • Consistently achieve or exceed annual sales and margin goals.
  • Represent Calibrant at key client meetings, industry events, and conferences to expand visibility and strengthen brand presence.
  • Build long-term partnerships with clients, ensuring repeat and expanded business opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in business development, commercial sales, or strategic partnerships within renewable energy, distributed generation, or energy infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated success leading multi-million-dollar renewable energy transactions.
  • Experience selling into Fortune 500 clients with ability to navigate complex organizational structures and procurement processes.
  • Strong knowledge of solar PV, battery energy storage, linear generators, and microgrid systems.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and close complex agreements (PPAs, ESAs, term sheets, LOIs).
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with ability to influence executive stakeholders.
  • Self-driven, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple high-priority opportunities simultaneously.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
