About us

Freedom Finance Europe Ltd is a regulated European online broker headquartered in Cyprus, providing access to US, European and Asian capital markets and a broad range of investment services and financial products. We operate in a fast-moving, highly regulated environment where product speed, client trust, marketing accuracy, regulatory discipline and legal architecture must work together. We are now strengthening our Legal Unit and looking for a senior legal leader to head one of its key expert departments.

About the role

The Senior Legal Counsel will provide practical, business-oriented legal support across brokerage, investment services, products, commercial agreements, client-facing documentation and regulated communications.

This is a senior individual-contributor role for an experienced in-house lawyer who can combine strong legal judgement with hands-on drafting, negotiation and cross-functional collaboration. The role also involves turning recurring legal work into clear, reusable templates, playbooks and standards.

The position reports to the Head of Brokerage, Product & Commercial Legal.

  • Provide legal support for the Company’s regulated brokerage model, investment services and product-led initiatives.
  • Assess new products, commercial initiatives, client journeys and distribution scenarios, identifying relevant legal and regulatory requirements and practical execution options.
  • Analyse and apply applicable CySEC, MiFID II/MiFIR, EU financial services, conduct of business, disclosure, prospectus, data protection and sanctions-related requirements.
  • Draft, review and negotiate brokerage, product and commercial agreements with clients, partners, counterparties, service providers, banks, payment institutions, introducing brokers, vendors and other third parties.
  • Own, draft, review and update Terms of Business, disclosures, product terms, client forms, prospectus-related materials, website and platform wording, disclaimers and other client-facing documentation.
  • Review marketing materials, campaigns, claims, presentations, website content, landing pages, client communications and sales initiatives; identify risks and suggest practical alternatives.
  • Review platform flows and client journeys to identify legal, disclosure, transparency and conduct-related risks.
  • Prepare legal positions and response strategies for complex client complaints and pre-dispute matters, including legally sensitive communications and escalation packs.
  • Support relevant teams on sanctions, restrictions and asset-unblocking matters, and coordinate with external counsel when required.
  • Support GDPR and data-protection legal analysis where it intersects with the department’s work.
  • Develop and maintain templates, standard clauses, negotiation playbooks, checklists and other repeatable legal solutions.
  • Work closely with Compliance, Risk, Product, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Client Support, IT, Finance, Document Management and other stakeholders.
  • Support and guide junior or mid-level team members when required, helping maintain the quality and consistency of legal work.
  • Escalate matters that may affect the Company’s licence, regulatory position, client rights, reputation or material financial exposure.

Requirements

  • 7–9+ years of relevant legal experience in an in-house legal function of a Cyprus Investment Firm, regulated financial institution, broker, fintech company or a law firm supporting such clients;
  • Law degree. Common-law qualification/JD or civil-law equivalent with strong exposure to common-law drafting and international transactions is preferred;
  • Strong understanding of brokerage, capital markets, investment services, advisory/portfolio management business, client documentation and regulated product distribution;
  • Strong knowledge of CySEC/CIF regulatory environment, MiFID II/MiFIR, applicable EU financial services regulation, GDPR/data protection, sanctions-related regulation, commercial contracts and client-facing legal documentation;
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills in English and Russian; ability to prepare concise legal memos, business-friendly advice and contract-ready wording;
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office and ability to work with legal tech, document management, task management and knowledge management tools.

Benefits

  • Work in a modern office in the center of Limassol with an open-minded and professional team;
  • Relocation package, including reimbursement for flights and accommodation for 1 month;
  • Visa sponsorship for the employee and their family members;
  • The company covers 50% of the annual cost of the health plan, which the employee can choose with any insurance company;
  • Company-provided life insurance;
  • 21 working days of paid vacation;
  • 12 additional days off per year, provided by the company;
  • Paid sick leave;
  • Team-building activities, corporate events, football and volleyball clubs, sports events, and challenges.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
