About the Role
The Senior Legal Officer works under the direction of the Legal Lead and plays an important role in supporting the company’s legal and regulatory matters. The role partners closely with internal departments, headquarters, and external advisers across multiple jurisdictions, providing practical legal guidance and supporting the business in navigating an evolving financial services regulatory environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide practical legal advice and support across the company’s operations, including the review, drafting, preparation, and amendment of legal documents and agreements.
- Review, negotiate, and manage third-party contracts, identifying legal and commercial risks and ensuring appropriate protections are in place.
- Monitor contract execution and support relevant stakeholders in ensuring compliance with agreed terms and obligations.
- Monitor and analyse developments in financial services regulations, corporate laws, and related regulatory requirements, advising management on potential impacts to the business.
- Work closely with the Chief Compliance Officer and relevant stakeholders to respond to regulatory enquiries and support the timely preparation and submission of regulatory reports.
- Provide legal support for licensing applications, renewals, regulatory submissions, and other interactions with financial regulatory authorities.
- Act as a key point of contact for legal matters across the business, partnering with teams including Sales, Marketing, Back Office, Finance, and Human Resources.
- Liaise and coordinate with external legal counsel, regulators, and other professional advisers on legal and regulatory matters relevant to the company’s operations.
- Support cross-functional and cross-border legal matters as required, ensuring legal considerations are effectively communicated and incorporated into business decisions.
Requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Law; postgraduate legal qualifications will be highly regarded.
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in legal practice, compliance, financial services, or a related regulated environment.
- Sound knowledge of financial services regulations, corporate law, and corporate governance requirements.
- Strong legal drafting, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work within agreed timelines.
- Comfortable working in a cross-border and multicultural environment, collaborating with stakeholders across different functions and jurisdictions.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently while taking direction when required.
