The posting

The AutoVitals suite of SaaS products is designed to solve many of the current hurdles faced by auto repair shops. Our mission is to help auto repair shops drive profitable growth by attracting new customers, delivering superior communication and customer service, increasing shop efficiency, and raising average repair orders.

We are building content as a dedicated function for the first time and looking for someone to own it and build it. This role builds the library from the ground up, owns how we rank for the terms shops search, and owns what that content produces in qualified leads.

The model is specific, and it is the reason this will work. Content is built for a defined reader, cut two ways: by the size and type of shop, and by the role of the person reading it, whether that is an owner, a service advisor, a technician, a shop foreman, or a parts manager. Someone who lands on a general page here should be able to find their way to a page written for exactly who they are and what they are trying to solve, then to the next one, until they arrive at a conversation with our sales team already convinced.

This is a hands-on role and a building role at the same time. You will write, edit, and publish yourself, especially in the first year. You will also set the standard, build the calendar and the process the function runs on, and hire and develop the people who come after you. The scope of this role grows with the function you build.

Responsibilities

  • Own the content strategy for AutoVitals and the editorial calendar that runs it, and hold that calendar as more people contribute to it
  • Build the segmented library: content by shop size and type, cut against buyer role, so each reader finds material written for them rather than for a general audience
  • Design the journey between pieces so each one leads to the next and moves a reader measurably closer to a sales conversation
  • Write and produce across formats yourself, including articles, guides, website copy, email, video scripts, and product-supporting material
  • Audit the existing library, retire what is dated, and rebuild what is worth keeping
  • Create proof content, including customer stories and case studies, that a prospect can verify on their own after a rep has talked to them
  • Write content to the SEO plan set by demand generation, including keyword targeting, on-page optimization, content structure, and internal linking, so the library ranks for the terms shops actually search
  • Own the AutoVitals website content, including ongoing updates and new pages
  • Track and report content performance, including rankings, traffic, engagement depth, and conversion into qualified leads
  • Take positioning from product marketing and turn it into content, including content that drives adoption of features already in market, not only what is new
  • Write the copy demand generation runs on, including ad copy, landing page copy, email sequences, and webinar promotion, and supply the narrative, deck, and follow-up behind webinars and events
  • Pull material from sales, training, and shop success so content reflects what customers actually ask
  • Set the standard for voice and quality with brand, and hold it as contributors, freelancers, and agencies come and go, including the brief, the standard, and acceptance for outsourced work
  • Build content into a function with defined standards, process, and repeatable output, with an operating cadence across product marketing, demand generation, and brand so content is planned against launches and campaigns
  • Hire, onboard, and develop content marketers as the team grows

Requirements

  • 6+ years in product marketing at a B2B SaaS or technology company
  • Experience conducting market discovery through customer, prospect, and win and loss interviews, then translating those insights into validated market problems, buyer personas, positioning, and go-to-market decisions
  • Experience managing or developing product marketers and building the process, standards, and playbooks a function runs on, not only doing the work yourself
  • Track record owning product launches end to end, from positioning through sales readiness and results
  • Strong writer and clear communicator who can take a technical product and say plainly what it does and who it is for, across all levels of an organization
  • Experience building competitive intelligence from scratch, including research, battlecards, and win and loss analysis
  • Experience segmenting a market and building differentiated messaging by segment and by buyer role
  • Comfortable working directly with sales reps, sitting in on calls, and building what they will actually use
  • Data-literate, able to connect messaging and launch work to pipeline and bookings
  • Comfortable building from scratch in a fast-moving environment where not everything is defined yet
  • Bonus
  • Pragmatic Marketing or Product Marketing Alliance certification
  • Experience taking a multi-product platform to market
  • Experience marketing to small and medium-sized businesses, particularly in automotive, home services, or a similar vertical
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and HubSpot
  • Background or knowledge of the automotive repair industry

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
