Position: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – SolidWorks Specialist

Salary: To be determined

Working Hours & Conditions: Observing AU working hours

ROLE OVERVIEW:

Our client is an innovative Australian engineering and technology leader dedicated to delivering robust, custom-engineered equipment and infrastructure solutions for demanding global heavy industrial operations. They are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer based in the Philippines to serve as an expert SolidWorks specialist. In this role, you will bridge the gap between initial concepts, site data, and site-ready reality by transforming complex engineering requirements into practical, manufacturable, and impeccably documented mechanical and structural designs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • End-to-End Design Development: Take engineering requirements, site information, sketches, and initial concepts to develop complete, practical, and highly manufacturable 3D models and equipment layouts from scratch.
  • Complex Modeling & Assembly Management: Design complex, large-scale assemblies, heavy weldments, structural frames, sheet metal components, and pipework/equipment integrations ensuring proper clearance, interference checking, and mating strategies.
  • Manufacturing Documentation: Produce comprehensive, detailed fabrication and manufacturing drawing packages, including General Arrangement (GA) drawings, complete Bill of Materials (BOMs), cut lists, precise geometric tolerances, and strict revision controls.
  • Design for Harsh Environments: Incorporate practical heavy-industry engineering factors into all designs, accounting for high loads, severe vibration, fatigue, impact, corrosion, dust/water exposure, lifting, handling, and maintainability.
  • Structural Integration & Access Systems: Create safe, heavy-duty support frames, equipment mountings, access platforms, skids, sumps, brackets, safety guards, and structural modifications around bulk materials handling and mineral processing infrastructure.
  • Collaborative Design Reviews: Work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to refine concepts, ensure adherence to manufacturing and installation constraints, and optimize designs for efficiency and safety.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: 5 to 10+ years of professional mechanical design experience specifically within heavy industrial sectors (e.g., mining, mineral processing, bulk materials handling, power generation, oil & gas, or heavy manufacturing).
  • Expert-Level SolidWorks Proficiency: Demonstrated mastery of advanced SolidWorks workflows, including parametric modeling, configuration design tables, robust weldment structures, sheet metal design, design libraries, and efficient large-assembly management.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Manufacturing & Fabrication Literacy: Deep, practical understanding of how heavy equipment and steel structures are actually fabricated, welded, machined, bolted, and installed in real-world field settings.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills suited for direct collaboration with international engineering teams.

DESIRED (NOT REQUIRED):

  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Experience utilizing SolidWorks Simulation for structural analysis of fabricated steel structures, frames, brackets, and equipment supports.
  • Standards Familiarity: Working knowledge of Australian Standards (AS) or prior experience working alongside Australian engineering firms.
  • Plant & Equipment Familiarity: Prior background designing equipment intended to operate in or around conveyors, pumps, pressure vessels, mobile machinery, or processing plants.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
