About the company

Our client is evolving from a traditional technology media publication into a technology intelligence platform focused on understanding how technology markets, companies, capital, infrastructure and policy are moving.

Alongside this intelligence direction, we continue to operate a daily newsroom producing timely, accurate and accessible technology coverage.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Newsroom Associate with excellent English writing skills and a strong understanding of Arabic to support the day-to-day production of the company's newsroom.

The role is primarily focused on researching and producing English-language technology news. Arabic is important because it allows you to access and understand Arabic-language sources, announcements and developments, and use that information to produce relevant English coverage.

You will work closely with the Editor-in-Chief and wider editorial team to identify developments, research stories, fact-check information and turn findings into clear, accurate and publishable content.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Editorial

· Produce 3–4 relevant daily technology news stories and short-form editorial pieces.

· Monitor developments across technology, AI, fintech, startups, business, policy and emerging markets.

· Research developments and announcements from credible sources.

· Use both English and Arabic-language sources to identify relevant developments and supporting information.

· Conduct basic fact-checking and source verification before publication.

· Turn research and source material into clear, original and well-written English coverage.

· Identify developments that should be brought to the editorial team's attention.

· Update stories when new information becomes available.

· Meet agreed daily and weekly editorial deadlines.

Research & Arabic Sources

· Monitor relevant Arabic-language sources where useful to the company's coverage.

· Understand Arabic announcements, reports, statements and other source material.

· Extract relevant information from Arabic sources and incorporate it accurately into English-language stories.

· Help the newsroom identify developments that may receive limited coverage in English.

· Cross-check information across Arabic and English sources where required.

Magazine & Editorial Projects

· Contribute to the company's digital magazine and longer-form editorial projects.

· Support research and writing for features, analysis and special coverage.

· Develop stories and supporting material from research provided by the wider editorial team.

· Support research-led and intelligence-focused content.

Content Operations

· Upload and format articles.

· Maintain editorial calendars and deadlines.

· Support basic GEO and content optimisation.

· Maintain accuracy and consistency across published content.

· Support newsletter and other editorial content when required.

Requirements

Required

· 1–3 years of experience in journalism, content writing, media, communications or a related field.

· Excellent English writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, grammatically strong and publication-ready copy.

· Good Arabic comprehension and the ability to understand Arabic-language source material.

· Strong research and fact-checking skills.

· Ability to find relevant information, assess sources and turn research into a coherent news story.

· Ability to write clearly and accurately under daily deadlines.

· Strong attention to detail.

· Interest in technology, AI, startups, fintech and emerging markets.

· Comfortable working independently while taking editorial direction and feedback.

· Organised and able to manage multiple pieces of content at once.

Strong Advantages

· Previous newsroom or technology-media experience.

· Experience covering technology, business, startups or finance.

· Experience using Arabic-language sources for research.

· Understanding of the MENA technology ecosystem.

· Knowledge of French, particularly for working with French-language sources relevant to MENA and North Africa.

· Basic understanding of SEO/GEO.

· Experience with CMS platforms.

· Familiarity with AI and emerging technologies.

· Experience contributing to magazines, features or longer-form editorial projects.

The Person We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is a strong English writer first.

You should be able to take a development, research it across multiple sources, understand the key facts, verify the information and turn it into a clean, accurate and readable English-language news story without excessive supervision.

You should be comfortable working at newsroom pace and producing several pieces of relevant coverage each day without compromising accuracy or writing quality.

Being able to understand Arabic gives you access to an additional pool of information. You should be comfortable reading Arabic-language sources, identifying what is relevant and using those findings to strengthen or develop an English-language story.

You do not need to be an Arabic-language journalist or translator. The important thing is that you can understand Arabic well enough to research effectively and communicate the relevant information in excellent English.

You should also be comfortable contributing to magazine pieces, research-led stories and other editorial projects as the company continues to develop its intelligence-focused coverage.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
