The posting
TV productions around the world run on software built in Bergen. Live every day, from BBC News to Premier League. Viz Trio is the graphics application used by newsrooms and sports broadcasters to create and put content on air, and we are growing the team that builds it.
We're looking for a senior engineer who is energized by hard systems problems and cares about building the right thing, not just shipping the next thing.
The challenge
Viz Trio is a large Delphi and C# application that has run live broadcasts around the world for more than two decades, and we are modernizing it while it stays on air. That means:
- Re-engineering parts of a mature system built on technologies from different generations
- Improving Delphi/C# interop and carefully migrating selected Delphi code to C#
- Integrating new web-based UI components
This is the kind of problem most engineers never get to touch: deep, real, consequential, and visible on screen. We want someone who finds that exciting rather than daunting.
Requirements
Who you are
We care most about how you approach problems, but we also want a solid background. We'd expect:
- You embrace AI-assisted development where it helps you move faster without compromising engineering quality
- A strong background and experience with a high-level object-oriented language like C#
- Experience with Delphi or interest in learning and working with the language
- Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and safely evolving large long-lived desktop applications with complex legacy codebases
- Genuine care for architecture and system design, and the judgment to know when to modernize and when to leave well enough alone
- You raise the level of the people around you through mentoring, reviews, and sharing your technical experience
- Experience collaborating across teams and contributing to technical decision-making
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent skills and experience
What you'll do
- Work hands-on with Viz Trio's Delphi and C# codebase
- Apply AI-assisted tools where they improve speed without compromising quality
- Help determine what gets rewritten, what gets wrapped, and what's left unchanged
- Collaborate with the wider Trio team and stakeholders across Vizrt
- See your work on air, in real broadcasts, in real time
