The posting

Facet was founded in 2016 on the belief that objective, personalized financial advice is essential to living well. Our mission is to empower people to live more enriched lives by delivering a new standard of advice. By removing asset minimums, we provide holistic planning that goes far beyond investments to address every way money impacts life. Our team of CFP® professionals are at the core of our service and are empowered by our best-in-class support teams and proprietary technology platform. This model allows Facet to integrate advice into our members’ entire financial picture—all for an affordable, flat membership fee.

Our commitment to innovation and member success has earned national recognition, including being ranked the #1 Best Financial Advisory Firm 2025 by USA TODAY and named to Newsweek’s list of America’s Top Financial Advisory Firms 2025. With an A+ BBB Rating and a Trustpilot “Excellent” score (as of Sept. 16, 2025)*, we are proud to be redefining the industry for our members and our team alike.

About The Role

Facet is seeking an experienced Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to step into a high-touch, member-facing role as a Senior Tax Associate. If you love the strategic advisory side of public accounting or private wealth management—but dread tax season, compliance filings, and timesheets—this is the ideal next step in your career.

In this consultative position, you will be on the frontline, leading weekly virtual tax strategy sessions directly with Facet members. You will translate complex tax laws into actionable, high-impact strategies without ever filing a tax return. Partnering closely with our CFP® Lead Planners, you will apply Facet’s modern tax planning framework to empower members to make confident, tax-optimized life decisions.

Key Highlights:

  • No Tax Return Preparation or Compliance: 100% focused on forward-looking planning, education, and member advisory.
  • Direct Member Impact: High-cadence consultation environment leading 10–15 video strategy sessions per week.
  • Modern Wealth Management: Operate as the subject matter expert within a modern, tech-enabled RIA structure.
  • Balanced Work Load: NO BUSY SEASON!

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Direct Member Consultations: Lead 10–15 virtual strategy sessions per week, delivering tailored tax advice, answering complex real-time questions, and guiding members through high-stakes financial decisions.
  • Continuous Member Engagement: Serve as the primary tax sounding board for members by delivering clear, plain-English answers to day-to-day inbound questions via our secure messaging platform (covering withholdings, life events, IRS notices, and tax projections).
  • Proactive Tax Plan Diagnostic: Review member tax returns (Form 1040s and schedules) to diagnose multi-year optimization opportunities, including Roth conversions, equity vesting events, real estate transactions, and executive compensation.
  • Custom Modeling & Scenario Analysis: Build, model, and present customized tax strategies using modern planning tools—focusing on bracket management, withholding adjustments, and estimated tax schedules.
  • Technical Research & Analysis: Perform deep-dive research into complex federal and multi-state tax scenarios to architect compliant, creative strategies across diverse household profiles.
  • Planner Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with our Lead Planners and Director of Specialized Advice to integrate tax optimization seamlessly into overall holistic financial plans.

Commonly Advised Strategies & Domains

  • Roth Conversion & Income Optimization: Evaluating income streams for multi-year Roth conversion strategies while managing downstream impacts on IRMAA brackets, ACA subsidies, and Social Security taxation.
  • Real Estate & Rental Assets: Advising on cost recovery, depreciation, Passive Activity Loss (PAL) rules, short-term rental strategies, and Section 1031 exchanges.
  • Charitable Giving Strategies: Structuring high-impact options, including Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs), Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs), and appreciated stock gifting.
  • Small Business & Entity Structuring: Advising business owners on entity selection (Sole Prop, S-Corp, LLC), Section 199A QBI optimization, pass-through taxation, and exit planning.
  • Equity Compensation: Navigating tax impacts of ISOs, NSOs, RSUs, and ESPPs, including Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) strategies and liquidity event planning.

Requirements

  • Active Credential: Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
  • Relevant Experience: 5–7+ years of professional experience specializing in personal tax planning, private client tax advisory, high-net-worth tax consulting, or wealth management.
  • Member-Facing Excellence: Demonstrated history of managing a regular client meeting cadence (e.g., 10–15 client consultations weekly) with exceptional empathy, active listening, and strong presentation skills over video.
  • Diagnostic Expertise: Expert ability to analyze Form 1040s and supporting schedules rapidly to spot tax inefficiencies, missed opportunities, and exposure risks.
  • Deep Technical Knowledge: Strong expertise in individual federal and state tax codes, pass-through entities, retirement distribution strategies, and executive compensation planning.
  • Fiduciary Ethos: Uncompromising integrity and a dedication to delivering objective, member-first advice.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation or active pursuit of the credential.
  • Prior experience delivering advisory services within a fee-only RIA, multi-family office, or wealth management firm alongside CFP® professionals.
  • High proficiency with modern tax modeling tools (Holistiplan, BNA, Corvee) and CRM/digital workflow tools.

Benefits

  • $110,000 – $150,000 base salary: Determined by experience, knowledge, and skills.
  • Equity (ISO): It is important to us that all employees are shareholders in our mission.
  • Flexible PTO
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with employer match, short/long-term disability (paid by Facet), life insurance, and paid parental leave.
  • Certification and wellness reimbursement programs
  • Work from anywhere in the US

*Facet was ranked #1 Best Financial Advisory Firm 2025 by USA TODAY in April 2025 who partnered with Statista to rank the top 500 RIAs. Recommendations were collected via an independent survey among over 30,000 individuals. Self-recommendations were prohibited, and no compensation was provided for the ranking. Facet has been Accredited with the Better Business Bureau® since June 2025, and as of February 2026 holds an A+ BBB Rating. This Accreditation does not imply BBB approval or endorsement. Plant-A Insights Group and Newsweek partnered to identify America's Top Financial Advisory Firms 2025. This analysis was performed with data as of September 2024 and reviewed over 15,000 financial advisories registered with the SEC. These rankings prepared by Plant-A reflect editorial content and no compensation was provided by Facet in connection with America's Top Financial Advisory Firms 2025. As of February 25, 2026; Facet has a 4.8 star rating with TrustPilot.com. TrustPilot uses a formula for calculation that considers three factors: time span, frequency, and Bayesian average. After the calculation, a TrustScore is then visualized into a star rating from 1 to 5 stars, including half stars. Facet’s star rating is calculated from reviews from January of 2022 to present day. Daily star rating may fluctuate. Companies on Trustpilot aren't allowed to offer incentives or pay to hide reviews and Facet has not made any payments in offer or receipt of any reviews.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
