The posting

BB&E is a full-service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm, headquartered in Northville, Michigan, which services both the federal and industrial sectors throughout the United States. BB&E team members provide environmental consulting, facilities engineering, and program/project management services to federal and private sectors.

Position Summary

It engages directly with clients and regulatory agencies when senior technical expertise can strengthen project outcomes.

This position is intended for an accomplished environmental professional who can have broad organizational impact through technical expertise, mentorship, quality, and thought leadership, without requiring primary responsibility for program or people management.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior environmental restoration and remediation SME, providing technical guidance and consultation on complex, high-risk, and/or technically challenging projects.
  • Perform and lead senior technical and QA/QC reviews of project approaches, work plans, reports, designs, technical memoranda, regulatory documents, and other significant deliverables.
  • Advise project teams on investigation and remediation strategies, conceptual site models, data interpretation, remedy evaluation and selection, technical risk, and regulatory strategy.
  • Mentor, coach, and train technical staff, strengthening technical judgment, problem-solving, regulatory knowledge, technical writing, and development of defensible environmental solutions.
  • Develop and share technical guidance, tools, lessons learned, training, and best practices that strengthen BB&E’s environmental restoration and remediation capabilities.
  • Support Project and Program Managers in identifying technical risks early and developing practical, cost-effective solutions to complex project challenges.
  • Support business development, capture, and proposals, including development and review of technical approaches, scopes, assumptions, staffing strategies, level-of-effort estimates, and technical qualifications.
  • Participate in client and regulatory meetings, technical presentations, and negotiations where senior technical expertise would benefit the project or client relationship.
  • Stay current with evolving regulations, contaminants, remediation technologies, and industry practices and help integrate relevant developments into BB&E’s technical approaches.

Requirements

  • Minimum 20 years’ experience progressively responsible experience in environmental investigation, restoration, remediation, or related environmental consulting; 25+ years’ experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a senior technical lead, SME, technical reviewer, and/or trusted technical advisor on complex environmental projects.
  • Experience supporting environmental projects for industrial, private-sector, and/or Federal clients.
  • Recognized expertise across environmental restoration and remediation, with substantial experience in several of the following areas:
  • Environmental investigation and remediation under CERCLA, RCRA, and applicable state cleanup programs.
  • Site investigation, characterization, conceptual site models, environmental data interpretation, and contaminant fate and transport.
  • Development, evaluation, implementation, and optimization of remedial strategies and solutions.
  • Regulatory strategy and coordination for complex environmental restoration and remediation projects.
  • Certification and Training: PG or PE is required; 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is required; OSHA Supervisor Training is preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, geology, environmental science, chemistry, or a related technical discipline required; advanced degree preferred.

The position requires specific knowledge of and experience with:

  • Recognized expertise in environmental restoration, investigation, and remediation, with demonstrated ability to solve complex technical and regulatory problems.
  • Advanced knowledge of CERCLA, RCRA, and applicable Federal and state environmental restoration requirements.
  • Strong technical judgment and demonstrated ability to critically evaluate environmental data, assumptions, conceptual site models, investigation strategies, remedial alternatives, and technical conclusions.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting or leading senior-level technical and QA/QC reviews.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly and effectively to technical staff, project managers, clients, regulators, and senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability and interest in mentoring and developing technical professionals.
  • Strong technical writing, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and influence project outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting environmental proposals, technical approaches, scopes, and/or cost estimates.
  • Strong professional reputation and commitment to technical integrity, quality, practical problem-solving, and client service.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
