Daystar Power Group is a Pan-African provider of solar and hybrid power solutions, offering its systems on a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), fixed monthly fee lease, or buy-out basis. All our solutions are accompanied by comprehensive maintenance services, to ensure the solutions run 365 days a year. We are currently operational in several countries including Nigeria, Ghana, Togo, Senegal, and Ivory Coast.

Daystar Power Group is seeking a Solar Panel Maintenance Supervisor in Aba, Nigeria to join the team. The ideal candidate will have a track record in maintaining large scale solar power systems. He or She will monitor designated sites, notify managers of deficiencies and drive the solar panel maintenance team to actualize better asset performance.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Manage and execute activities pertaining to Solar System Preventative Maintenance (SSPM) on all allotted Daystar solar power system and ensuring all HSE procedures are followed. These activities include but are not limited to:
  • Periodic cleaning of solar PV modules as per annual maintenance schedule
  • Inspection of the solar mounting structures
  • Periodic cable inspection as per annual maintenance schedule
  • Array Junction Box (AJB) maintenance as per annual maintenance schedule
  • Conducting PV system checks.
  • Taking and archiving of “before and after” pictures of solar panel array.

2. Plan, prepare, and manage schedules pertaining to preventive maintenance on allotted solar plants.

  • He/she is expected to plan maintenance activities for members of his/her team on a weekly basis.
  • He/she is expected to ensure that the annual maintenance schedule for solar plants is strictly followed.
  • Weekly reporting of all executed maintenance activities.

3. Enforce HSE compliance within team during all maintenance activities.

  • Ensure that all team members and 3rd party contractors have the required medical fitness and competency certificates.
  • Liaise with QHSE officers for the provision of all required RAMS documents.
  • Ensure the availability and mandatory use of PPE within the team.
  • Ensure that all safety guidelines are strictly adhered to, especially while working at heights.
  • Report all safety incidents and near-misses to the QHSE department.

Requirements

1. Education: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

2. Experience: A minimum of 3 years’ work experience in Electrical Engineering roles, preferably in the renewable energy or power industry, installing and / or maintaining solar systems.

3. Language Proficiency: English.

4. Character:

  • self-motivated and demonstrate a sense of ownership with high level of commitment and the ability to thrive under pressure.
  • passionate about quality of workmanship.
  • good communication skills and ability to lead and work well in teams.
  • discretion in dealing with sensitive information.
  • highly organized with ability to manage multiple projects in parallel and prioritize competing demands, passion for renewable energy.

5.HSE certification is an advantage.

6. Must demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel and Word).
