The posting

We are looking for a proactive, technically skilled, and safety-conscious Tradesman – Solar Panel to support the operation and maintenance of the resort’s Solar Power Generation System (PLTS).

This role is responsible for assisting with the installation, inspection, monitoring, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of solar panel systems and related components. The position ensures that solar power system components operate safely, reliably, and efficiently in accordance with operational standards, workplace safety requirements, and the hotel’s performance targets.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation of solar panels, mounting structures, inverters, cables, connectors, grounding systems, and related components
  • Perform basic mechanical and electrical work within the assigned level of competence
  • Read and understand basic work drawings, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and technical instructions
  • Assist with cable installation, routing, securing, labeling, and protection
  • Assist with cable termination, connector installation, grounding connections, and protection devices
  • Conduct visual inspections of solar panels, structures, cables, connectors, and system components
  • Assist with basic testing activities using appropriate measuring instruments
  • Support commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, replacement, and preventive maintenance activities
  • Assist with dismantling, relocation, or replacement of system components when required
  • Ensure solar panels and related components are handled properly and protected from damage during work activities
  • Use hand tools, power tools, electrical measuring instruments, and work-at-height equipment safely and appropriately
  • Inspect tools and equipment before use and report any damaged or unsafe items
  • Maintain a clean and safe working area and comply with applicable safety procedures and requirements
  • Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) according to the work hazards
  • Follow safety procedures for working at height, electrical work, energy isolation, and other identified workplace hazards
  • Support proper waste segregation and disposal of cables, packaging, metal, plastic, batteries, and other materials generated from work activities
  • Use energy, water, fuel, and materials responsibly and help prevent unnecessary waste
  • Perform other duties related to solar panel operations and maintenance as assigned

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field
  • Previous experience in installation, maintenance, construction, electrical, mechanical, or renewable energy work is preferred
  • Experience with photovoltaic systems, solar panels, inverters, cable installation, grounding, or working at height is an advantage
  • Basic understanding of photovoltaic or solar panel systems
  • Basic understanding of DC and AC electrical systems
  • Basic knowledge of solar panels, inverters, cables, connectors, combiner boxes, grounding, and protection systems
  • Ability to read basic work drawings, wiring diagrams, layouts, and technical instructions
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and electrical measuring instruments
  • Ability to perform basic mechanical and electrical work
  • Able to work independently under supervision and as part of a team
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety procedures
  • Basic computer skills for recording work activities
  • Willingness to work in shifts, on holidays, or on an on-call basis as required by hotel operations
  • Training or certification in solar photovoltaic systems is an advantage
  • Fresh graduates or candidates without direct solar experience may be considered if they possess basic technical knowledge and a willingness to learn
