About Vix Technology & Kuba

Vix Technology and Kuba are helping transit agencies shape the future of mobility.

Together, we deliver integrated fare collection, payments, mobility, analytics, and operational technology solutions that help transit agencies improve rider experience, strengthen operational performance, and support smarter transportation planning. Across more than 200 cities globally, our technologies support billions of passenger journeys annually across bus, rail, ferry, and multimodal transit networks.

As part of ICM Mobility Group — a mobility-focused investment group with more than $26 billion USD in funds under management — we are building the next generation of connected transit infrastructure through innovation, operational excellence, and long-term customer partnership.

Our mission is simple : make transit simpler, smarter, and more connected.

The Role

Solution Architect – North America

We are seeking a highly organized, customer-focused Solution Architect to join our North America team.

This role is ideal for a strong mid-level or emerging Solution Architect who enjoys working at the intersection of technology, customers, and delivery. You will play a key role in delivering complex Automated Fare Collection (AFC) and mobility modernization solutions, partnering with transit agencies, engineering and product teams, system integrators, subcontractors, and other technology partners.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical and systems thinking with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. You will help translate customer and project requirements into well-defined solution designs, lead technical discussions and workshops, define system interfaces and integrations, and support solutions from the bid and initial design through implementation, certification, and production.

What You'll Do

Solution Architecture & Design

  • Lead solution design activities in collaboration with Principal Engineers, Engineering teams, Product Development, and third-party partners.
  • Translate business, customer, and technical requirements into clear, implementable solution designs.
  • Lead technical design workshops with customers, internal teams, system integrators, and external vendors.
  • Define and document system interfaces, integration patterns, data flows, and technical dependencies.
  • Develop architecture diagrams, interface specifications, and other technical documentation required by internal and external development teams.
  • Facilitate technical reviews and obtain stakeholder agreement and sign-off on solution designs and interface specifications.
  • Ensure proposed solutions align with the organization's product capabilities, engineering standards, customer requirements, and overall solution architecture.

Implementation & Integration

  • Work closely with Engineering, Product Development, Operations, development partners, subcontractors, customer vendors, and system integrators throughout implementation.
  • Ensure implementations remain consistent with the approved architecture and technical specifications.
  • Support integration activities across internal and external systems and teams.
  • Identify technical dependencies, integration risks, and design issues early and work collaboratively with stakeholders to resolve them.
  • Support solutions through integration, testing, certification, deployment, and transition into production.
  • Provide architectural guidance when implementation challenges require clarification or refinement of the approved design.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a key technical point of contact for customers and external partners throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Build effective working relationships with transit agencies, technology partners, system integrators, and customer vendors.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations around solution capabilities, interfaces, dependencies, technical constraints, and delivery outcomes.
  • Facilitate productive technical discussions and help drive stakeholders toward clear decisions and agreed outcomes.
  • Support existing Vix and Kuba customers with solution changes, enhancements, integrations, upgrades, and technical impact assessments where required.

Project Delivery

  • Partner closely with Program and Project Management throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Provide regular technical progress, dependency, risk, and issue updates to Project Managers.
  • Support project planning by identifying architectural activities, technical dependencies, integration milestones, and delivery risks.
  • Work across multiple technical and organizational teams to help ensure solutions are delivered successfully and meet agreed requirements.

Pre-Sales & Business Development

  • Work with Bid Management, Engineering, Product, Operations, and partners to develop technical solutions for new opportunities.
  • Support customer discovery, proposal development, presentations, demonstrations, and technical discussions during the pursuit lifecycle.
  • Engage with prospective customers, consultants, and technology partners to understand market requirements and support the positioning of Vix / Kuba solutions.

About the Role

This position is based in North America and will support current and future Vix and Kuba customers across the region.

Some travel may be required to customer sites, Vix and Kuba offices, system integrators, third-party partners, and other project locations.

You will have the opportunity to work on complex, high-impact mobility programs and help shape the technical solutions that enable millions of passengers to access and pay for public transportation.

If you are a collaborative Solution Architect who enjoys solving complex integration challenges, working directly with customers, and taking solutions from design through production, we'd love to hear from you.

Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated and technically capable individual who combines strong solution architecture skills with excellent customer and stakeholder management.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in a Solution Architect, Systems Architect, Technical Architect, Integration Architect, or similar customer-facing technical role.
  • Experience designing and delivering complex, integrated technology solutions.
  • Strong understanding of systems integration, APIs, interfaces, data flows, and distributed systems.
  • Experience translating requirements into technical designs, architecture diagrams, and interface specifications.
  • Experience leading technical workshops and design discussions involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong technical documentation and diagramming skills.
  • Experience working directly with customers, vendors, system integrators, and engineering teams.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and technical dependencies in complex delivery environments.
  • Experience using an architecture or system modeling framework and associated modeling tools.
  • Ability to work effectively across geographically distributed and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated willingness to adopt emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools, to improve productivity, analysis, documentation, and solution development.

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be highly regarded:

  • Public transit technology and Automated Fare Collection (AFC) systems.
  • Payments, including contactless and account-based payment solutions.
  • Mobility platforms and intelligent transportation systems.
  • SaaS and cloud-based platforms.
  • Enterprise or large-scale systems integration.
  • API-based integration and distributed system architectures.
  • Customer-facing technology delivery within complex, multi-vendor environments.
  • Familiarity with architecture modeling standards and frameworks such as UML, SysML, ArchiMate, or TOGAF.

Why Join Vix / Kuba?

You’ll join a growing North America organization at a pivotal moment of transformation and growth.

This is an opportunity to:

  • Work on meaningful public infrastructure programs
  • Help shape the future of mobility in North America

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
