At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in Calimesa, CA! About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Calimesa, CA

Details:

  • In-Person Tutoring in Calimesa, CA
  • Schedule: 18 Hours per month, 2x a week for 1.5 hours per session
  • Pay range is between $25 and $35

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with students with cerebral palsy, cognitive disabilities, and/or significant communication needs
  • Experience supporting non-verbal students is strongly preferred
  • Comfortable working with students who use AAC devices or other alternative communication methods
  • Strong ability to provide highly individualized and structured instruction
  • Experience teaching or supporting life skills, functional routines, and independence skills
  • Comfortable simplifying academic concepts and adapting instruction to the student's developmental level
  • Patient, consistent, and confident with calm but firm redirection
  • Skilled in using visual supports, hands-on materials, repetition, and experiential learning
  • Able to create engaging activities that encourage participation and exploration
  • Comfortable supporting foundational academics, including reading, writing, and math
  • Able to follow IEP goals and adapt instruction based on the student's communication and learning needs
  • Strong understanding of the importance of consistency, clear expectations, and predictable routines
  • Creative and resourceful when developing activities that make learning accessible and meaningful

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized academic and functional support based on the student's IEP and learning needs
  • Provide simplified science instruction using hands-on activities, visual supports, demonstrations, and exploration
  • Connect science concepts to real-world experiences to promote understanding and engagement
  • Teach functional life skills, including daily routines, independence, and practical living concepts
  • Support the development of skills that can be generalized across home, school, and community settings
  • Integrate the student's AAC device into instruction and provide opportunities for communication during activities
  • Support foundational reading and literacy skills, including comprehension and sentence composition
  • Provide handwriting and written expression practice adapted to the student's abilities
  • Reinforce foundational Math concepts through hands-on and functional activities
  • Use visual schedules, structured routines, repetition, and clear expectations to support participation
  • Provide patient but firm redirection when the student becomes distracted or disengaged
  • Adapt materials and activities to accommodate the student's physical, communication, and cognitive needs
  • Encourage active participation through interactive, sensory-friendly, and experiential learning
  • Monitor progress and adjust instruction based on the student's response and developing independence
  • Collaborate with the student's existing support team when appropriate to maintain consistency across instructional goals
