Position Overview
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Specialist / Consultant Rheumatologist with a Western Board qualification to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care for patients with rheumatological, autoimmune and musculoskeletal conditions. The physician will be responsible for accurate diagnosis, individualized treatment planning, long-term disease management and coordination of multidisciplinary care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist consultations for rheumatological and autoimmune conditions.
- Assess, diagnose and manage inflammatory, autoimmune and musculoskeletal disorders.
- Manage conditions including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, lupus, gout, osteoporosis and other connective tissue diseases.
- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Order and interpret relevant laboratory, imaging and other diagnostic investigations.
- Initiate and monitor appropriate pharmacological and biologic therapies within approved clinical privileges.
- Monitor treatment response, medication safety and disease progression.
- Provide patient education regarding disease management, lifestyle modification and treatment adherence.
- Coordinate care with orthopaedics, internal medicine, dermatology, nephrology and other relevant specialties.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and clinical case discussions.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives.
- Maintain professional competence through continuing medical education and CPD.
Requirements
- Medical degree (MD, MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Recognized Western Board qualification in Rheumatology or an equivalent qualification accepted by the relevant UAE health authority.
- Relevant specialist/consultant-level clinical experience.
- Eligible for or holding a valid UAE Specialist / Consultant Rheumatology licence, subject to applicable health authority requirements.
- Current professional registration and Good Standing Certificate.
- Primary Source Verification and credentialing documentation as required.
- Current BLS certification; additional certifications as required by the facility.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and patient-centred care skills.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical governance and patient safety.
- Fluency in English; Arabic or other languages are an advantage.
