We are seeking an experienced and qualified Specialist Pediatric Surgeon to provide comprehensive surgical care to infants, children, and adolescents.
The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating pediatric surgical conditions, developing appropriate treatment plans, performing surgical procedures within their clinical privileges, providing perioperative care, and working collaboratively with pediatricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, intensivists, radiologists, and other specialists.
- Provide appropriate preoperative assessment and counseling to parents and caregivers.
- Obtain informed consent and explain surgical procedures, risks, benefits, and alternatives.
- Perform elective and emergency pediatric surgical procedures as appropriately credentialed.
- Provide postoperative care and monitor for complications.
- Coordinate perioperative management with pediatric anesthesia, neonatology, pediatric intensive care, and other relevant specialties.
- Review and interpret relevant laboratory investigations, ultrasound, X-ray, CT, MRI, and other diagnostic studies.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and pediatric case discussions.
- Provide outpatient consultations and postoperative follow-up.
- Educate parents and caregivers regarding postoperative care, medications, wound care, nutrition, and warning signs.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical records.
- Follow UAE healthcare regulations, hospital policies, infection-control procedures, and patient-safety standards.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality-improvement initiatives, CME/CPD activities, and departmental education.
- Support the teaching and supervision of residents, junior doctors, and other healthcare professionals where applicable.
Requirements
- MBBS, MBChB, or equivalent medical degree from an accredited institution.
- Recognized postgraduate qualification in General Surgery or an accepted equivalent.
- Recognized specialty qualification/training in Pediatric Surgery.
- Current UAE professional license or eligibility for Specialist licensing.
- Valid BLS certification; PALS or equivalent pediatric life-support certification may be required according to facility policy.
