The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) supports the delivery of speech and language services to high school students under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, supporting communication development to help students achieve educational and functional goals. The SLPA reports to the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) and Head of School and will work primarily with the SLP for service-related needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist licensed speech-language pathologists in assessing and evaluating clients.
- Implement and deliver treatment plans designed to improve speech and language skills.
- Maintain thorough documentation and monitor client progress regularly.
- Work collaboratively with school staff and other professionals to ensure coordinated service delivery.
- Educate clients and their families on communication strategies and resources.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Current state certification or licensure as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA).
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or school setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient organizational abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth in the field.
- Must complete an approved course of academic study, as well as a supervised clinical experience, successfully pass the ASHA Assistants Certification Exam, and meet credentialing requirements.
