Staff Engineer — Customer Engineering, Aerospace Machining

Davis Machine & Manufacturing · Euless, TX · On-site · Full-time, salaried exempt

$80,000–$120,000

Company Davis Machine is an AS9100-certified precision machining company serving the aerospace industry from a 75,000 sq ft campus in Euless, Texas. The business is built on two complementary lines of work: high-volume, low-mix production of stainless steel, Inconel, and other hard-material components, and low-volume, high-mix machining of complex aluminum and titanium structural parts. Davis is affiliated with sister companies in surface finishing and engineering, giving customers a single group for machined, finished, and engineered components.

Position summary The Staff Manufacturing Engineer is Davis Machine's technical representative to its aerospace customers and the point of contact for customer engineering matters. The position holds responsibility for nonconformance and deviation dispositions, drawing and model interpretation, flowdown compliance, and engineer-to-engineer communication with prime and tier-1 manufacturing and quality engineering. The Staff Engineer also conducts the engineering difficulty review on all new work prior to quotation. The position is designed so that CNC programmers remain dedicated to part processing; customer-facing engineering is the Staff Engineer's responsibility. Reports to the Engineering Manager.

Accountabilities

  • Serve as the working link between customer engineering and the Davis engineering group: resolve miscommunication, remove roadblocks, and keep both sides working from the same information
  • Prepare and submit formal engineering reports, dispositions, and requests through customer portals in the format each customer requires
  • Build the technical case for nonconformance and deviation dispositions with Quality, and carry it through the customer's review
  • Review incoming new work for risk, difficulty, and flowdown requirements before it is quoted
  • Maintain customer portal access, supplier requirements, and engineering contacts so the company's communication paths do not rest on one person
  • Evaluate proposed process, tooling, and software changes on qualified parts against customer requirements before they are implemented

Requirements

  • Seven or more years in aerospace manufacturing engineering, with direct experience at a prime or tier-1 (Lockheed Martin, Bell, and their structures suppliers preferred; Parker experience valued for the fittings division)
  • Demonstrated record of authoring and securing nonconformance and deviation dispositions with a prime customer
  • Fluency in engineering drawings, 3D models, GD&T, and PMI/MBD
  • Working knowledge of prime supplier portals, forms, and quality flowdown requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to operate with rigor in a small organization without the procedural infrastructure of a prime
  • US person as defined under ITAR/EAR

Preferred

  • Quoting or estimating experience for complex machined components
  • Multi-axis machining or CAM background
  • Machinist or setup experience
  • Interest in progression to Engineering Manager

Schedule and requirements First shift Monday through Friday, with extended hours during prove-out and customer deadlines. US person as defined under ITAR/EAR. Background check and drug screen required.

Benefits

$80,000–$120,000 base salary, determined by prime/tier-1 experience, aerospace program depth, and deviation/MRB record.

  • Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Eight Paid Holidays

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
