In chargeof specific courses and impart training on navigational / engineering / soft skills / safety / OEM / cargo / vessel specific topics to seafarers at AEMTC, in accordance with the course manual.
Development and monitoring of course where they are course-in-charge.
·Updates and improvements made to the course periodically.
ROLES ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Role as a Course in-charge
· Take responsibility for updating and revising course Master files, participants handout, prepare and update PPTs, relevant videos, exercises, tests, incorporating new regulatory requirements, industry best practices and new training material received. Ensure reference materials are inventoried and maintained and proper updating procedure is followed and all documents are controlled with revision numbers
· Ensure all course data like course entry form, attendance, feedback forms are entered on AIMS by the participants. Compile feedback from participants, vessels, various AE divisions and discuss same with Programme Head for further corrective / preventive action.
· Conduct course review meetings and document the minutes. Conduct thorough review of courses under own charge, taking into account observations and suggestions from the course verification.
· Monitor non-conformity reports and initiate corrective actions in consultation with the Programme Head.
· Update and improve the courses periodically; also plan and develop new training courses as may be needed. Incorporate case studies from incident reports and audit/ vetting reports received from the fleet.
· Communicate with managers from ship management offices in AE for feedback and understanding training requirements to update and upgrade the teaching quantity.
2. Adhere to the course outline, timetable, detailed teaching syllabus and lesson plan while imparting the training of the highest quality. Maintain highest level of safety practices during the training.
Take participant’s feedback at the end of each course and prepare course summary. Include the suggestions to improve the content and delivery of the courses and prepare the course review points.
3. Conduct participant assessment as detailed in the course manual. Prepare assessment report and record technical and behavioral assessment.
4. Identify and record all deficiencies related to training activities and initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities related to training activities in consultation with Programme Head.
5. Ensure that training course simulators and equipment, measuring instruments and gas detectors used in the courses are maintained / tested / calibrated at regular intervals in accordance with current standards / legislations, guidance and manufacturer’s recommendations.
Check and monitor inventory and maintain records of all equipment related to training.
6. To ensure Course Specific induction program is being carried out for new course faculty for Engineering / Deck courses / ECDIS helpdesk / External Examiner for DGS, MMD, IMU, Cadet Training at AEMTC.
7. Continuous professional development – Identify own training and development needs and convey to the line manager. Work on self professional development by way of attending industry events, webinars, courses etc.
Requirements
KEY SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES
Technical skills
· Expertise in specific ship type/ trade/ cargo(es) (as per requirement).
· Expertise in specifc machinery/ technology/ equipment (as per requirement).
· Proficient in the use of computer and commonly used software programmes.
Professional skills
· Awareness of latest developments in the industry
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Must have a passion for learning continuously, a desire to be in the teaching profession and should be interested in modern teaching methodologies.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Education:
· Master Mariner Class I – COC Or Marine Engineer Officer Class I from a reputed Flag State or Other Specialized Qualification.
· Other specialized training courses and certification.
Experience:
· Master or Chief Engineer with min 1 yr sailing experience
· 2 to 3 years teaching experience
Specific Business Knowledge:
· Maritime Education and Training
· QHSE and Quality/ ISO Systems
· Behaviour based safety and Incident Investigation
· Simulator Operation
· Other Marine Specialization / Diploma / Degrees
