Are you a skilled Technical Artist with a passion for asset creation and integration in engine, with a strong artistic eye? VOLTA is seeking a talented individual to join our team in Quebec. This is a fantastic opportunity for a creative mind who is not only technically proficient, but also deeply passionate about game art. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to the art team with tools and game engine
  • Integrate character and prop assets in game engines and/or proprietary tools
  • Work closely with Project Managers and IT team on collaboration and version control software such as Perforce
  • Review 3D assets for their technical compatibility and compliancy to all the guidelines
  • Coordinating with team members from different time-zones
  • Maintain, Integrate and improve technical pipeline for asset creation
  • Create technical documentation and training for artists on the production pipeline
  • Creating 3D Props/environment assets as per art direction
  • Create technically compliant assets
  • Creating tileable and unique textures using Substance Painter / Designer
  • Integration of Substance Designer materials into Unreal

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Artist, with a focus on prop creation, texturing and integration
  • Solid understanding of Unreal Engine and Unity
  • Strong expertise in Unreal Engine 5, including hands-on use of systems such as Lumen, Nanite, and Blueprint scripting
  • At least one shipped AAA title
  • Proficiency in industry-standard art tools such as Maya, Substance Painter, Substance Designer and Zbrush
  • Proven ability to build, maintain, and optimize tools and workflows in Autodesk Maya (Python and/or MEL)
  • Solid experience working with procedural and material pipelines using Houdini and/or Substance 3D Designer
  • Strong understanding of real-time constraints and optimization (performance, memory, scalability) in environment production
  • Demonstrated ability to support and collaborate with art teams, translating artistic goals into efficient technical solutions
  • Environment-focused experience (materials, shaders, world-building workflows, asset integration)
  • Quality-first mindset with a strong artistic eye for realistic visuals
  • Solid understanding of character rigging and skinning
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address technical challenges efficiently
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong art background and passion for hand painted texture is a big plus
  • Basic knowledge of programming or scripting for shader and/or tool creation is a big plus

Additional Requirements:

  • Availability for full-time work (40 hours/week)
  • Located in Quebec City/Montreal or willing to relocate to either
  • Able to work physically from our studio in Quebec City or Montreal

Salary Range: $60,000-80,000 CAD

Responsabilités principales :

  • Fournir un soutien technique à l'équipe artistique avec des outils et le moteur de jeu.
  • Intégrer des modélisations de personnages et d'accessoires dans les moteurs de jeu et/ou des autres outils.
  • Travailler en étroite collaboration avec les chargés de projet et l'équipe informatique sur des logiciels de collaboration et de gestion tels que Perforce.
  • Vérifier la compatibilité technique et la conformité des models 3D par rapport à toutes les directives.
  • Coordonner avec les membres de l'équipe provenant de différents fuseaux horaires.
  • Maintenir, intégrer et améliorer le pipeline technique de création d'objets.
  • Créer une documentation technique et une formation pour les artistes sur le pipeline de production.
  • Créer des actifs 3D d'environnement/accessoires conformément à la direction artistique.
  • Créer des actifs techniquement conformes.
  • Créer des textures en tuiles uniques à l'aide de Substance Painter/Designer.
  • Intégration de matériaux Substance Designer dans Unreal.

Exigences:

  • 5+ ans d'expérience en tant qu'Artiste Technique, axé sur la création d'accessoires, la texturation et l'intégration.
  • Compréhension solide de l'Unreal Engine et de Unity.
  • Forte expertise avec Unreal Engine 5, notamment l’utilisation pratique de systèmes tels que Lumen, Nanite, et Blueprint scripting.
  • au moins un titre AAA livré.

  • Compréhension solide du rigging et du skinning de personnage.
  • De solides compétences en résolution de problèmes pour aborder efficacement les défis techniques.
  • Capacité à travailler en collaboration dans un environnement orienté vers l'équipe et au rythme rapide.
  • Une solide formation artistique et une passion pour les textures peintes à la main sont un grand plus.Des connaissances de base en programmation ou en script pour la création de shaders et/ou d'outils sont un grand plus.
