The posting

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Coordinator to support our Technical Department in Athens.

Working closely with the Technical Superintendents and reporting to the Technical Manager, you will serve as a key coordination hub - managing service arrangements, tracking maintenance and certification, liaising with vendors and class societies and ensuring the smooth flow of technical data and documentation across the fleet. This is an excellent opportunity for a shipping professional looking to build broad technical operations experience in a growing, dynamic company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Service & Contractor Coordination

· Coordinate and schedule external technical attendances, specialized service engineers, for inspection, maintenance, testing, and calibration of machinery and equipment.

· Act as the technical point of contact for service companies, following up on work orders and ensuring vendor service reports are received, reviewed, and promptly logged.

Planned Maintenance & Defect Tracking

· Assist Superintendents in monitoring the fleet's Planned Maintenance System (PMS), identifying overdue jobs, unscheduled maintenance tasks, and safety-critical items requiring follow-up.

· Monitor incoming daily technical messages; ensure defect reports from vessels are promptly logged, tracked, and updated within the ERP system through to formal closure.

· Assist in following up on Masters' and Chief Engineers' condition reports and compile technical summaries for the department.

Procurement Liaison & Spare Parts Coordination

· Liaise with the Purchasing Department to coordinate and prioritize delivery of critical spare parts, lubricants, chemicals, and repair equipment to vessels during port calls or dry dockings.

Certification, Testing & Technical Records

· Monitor statutory and class certificates across the fleet, maintaining the certificate tracking system up to date and liaising with vessels and Class Societies regarding renewals, surveys, and required attendances.

· Coordinate the landing, dispatch, and testing of fuel, lube oil, boiler/cooling water, and ballast/bilge samples to contracted laboratories; track results and archive analytical reports.

· Maintain structured filing indices for technical service reports, dry-docking files, and equipment manufacturer service letters, escalating updates to Superintendents as required.

Performance Reporting & KPI Support

· Assist in preparing technical reports and compiling data required for monitoring and reporting of departmental KPIs.

· Update the company's technical management system with service reports, records, and information relating to procurement, invoicing, certification, and maintenance activities.

Dry-Docking & Technical Project Support

· Provide administrative and operational coordination support during scheduled dry-dockings, retrofits, and major machinery overhauls.

· Assist Superintendents with the planning and coordination of new technical projects and major repairs; compile and organize dry-dock specifications, service reports, and post-docking technical documentation.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

· Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Maritime Studies, or equivalent from a recognized University or Merchant Marine Academy.

· Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a shipping company's technical department or technical operations/service coordination role or seagoing experience.

· Working knowledge of ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, Classification Rules.

· Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).

· Professional fluency in written and spoken English.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
