ABOUT THE ROLE

At 3Degrees, we help organizations large and small take action toward a decarbonized, prosperous future. The Environmental Markets (EM), Trade Operations team oversees all commodity supplies coming in and out of 3Degrees, and manages all operations behind the market transactions. The Trade Operations Analyst is an integral team member who will focus primarily on the delivery and retirement of supply for our commercial clients and utility partnerships.

This is a full-time, exempt role reporting to our Trade Operations Manager, EM. We value camaraderie, team collaboration, and the benefits of in-person connection, while offering flexibility. For this role, we prefer candidates to join us in a voluntary, flexible hybrid work style in our San Francisco office.

For exceptional remote candidates, we strongly prefer those located in states where we are currently eligible to hire: CA, OR, NY, WA, ME, TX, CO, MI, FL, MA, MN, VA, DC, GA, UT, and IL. While we prioritize candidates in, or open to relocating to, these states, we may consider outstanding remote candidates from other US states. Please note that hiring in a new state would involve evaluating the implications of establishing a new hiring presence there. Additionally, 3Degrees does not provide relocation assistance for this position.

Please Note: 3Degrees does not provide sponsorship or work authorization assistance; therefore, pre-existing right-to-work status is a prerequisite to be considered for this position.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

You’ll be part of the solution to drive positive environmental impact through meticulous accuracy and high attention to detail in the delivery and supply of our environmental commodity business activity. You’ll play a key role in streamlining our operational workflows, bringing a fresh set of eyes to automate processes and help our team scale. Your contributions will empower our team to achieve greater efficiency and maintain high-quality outputs even during periods of heavy volume. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Accurately execute deliveries and supply retirements for key counterparties, commercial clients, and utility partnerships while maintaining a calm, focused approach under high-volume pressure
  • Manage project and delivery information within internal databases (Artemis) and third-party tracking registries
  • Act as a primary point of contact for counterparties regarding trading and contractual obligations, ensuring clear, highly professional written communication
  • Drive process innovation by collaborating with teammates, product managers, and engineering teams to build new operational tools and automate manual workflows
  • Demonstrate system agility by actively managing current database platforms and playing a key role in the transition to our new Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) platform
  • Support internal clients and external commercial counterparties (such as tech and corporate clients) with transactional and delivery details
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Accounting, Contracts, and Trading teams to ensure seamless workflow execution
  • Proactively compare datasets to troubleshoot discrepancies, isolate errors, and ensure total data integrity
  • Explore and implement innovative tooling—including agentic AI workflows—to improve team efficiency and eliminate operational friction
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

  • Practical AI Application: Experience using AI tools or agents as a sounding board, editor, or automation mechanism to innovate processes and double-check work
  • Coachability & Vulnerability: Comfort showing vulnerability regarding errors, taking accountability, and actively learning from feedback in a fast-moving setting
  • Professional Communication: Excellent written communication skills, capable of representing 3Degrees professionally with high-profile corporate clients
  • Nice-to-Haves: Basic SQL familiarity, experience working alongside software developers or product managers to scope out tools, or familiarity with Environmental Attribute Certificates (EACs)

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
